AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The Infotainment system may become inoperative or lock up (no audio; High Level Display Front (HLDF) is blank; HLDF displays Land Rover



logo). This may be caused by software issues.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of any of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to configure the Audio front and Front



entertainment control modules.

IDS with latest IDS-DVD and Calibration File; first available on IDS-DVD122_V6.04 Calibration File 45

NOTE:

Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.



DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



UPDATE THE AUDIO FRONT CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE



CAUTION:



Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the



vehicle.



CAUTION:



A Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module



programming.



NOTE:



Ensure the Navigation Update Tool is available.



Refer to the Navigation Update Tool User Guide (InfoTrail > Bulletins / Publications > Technical Library) for set up and usage details.



1. Connect the Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.



NOTE:



IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD122_V6.04 or later and Calibration File 45 or later.



2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.



3. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.



4. From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Diagnosis'.



5. Select the Selected Symptoms tab, and then select:



^ Electrical > Information and entertainment system > Entertainment system



6. Select 'continue'.

7. Select the 'Recommendations' tab.



8. From the Recommendations tab, select Run to configure the 'Audio front control module'



^ Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.



UPDATE THE FRONT ENTERTAINMENT CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE



NOTE:



Ensure the Navigation Update Tool is available.



1. From the Recommendations tab, select Run to configure the Front entertainment control module.



^ Follow all on-screen instructions to complete set up of the Navigation Update Tool and configuration the Front entertainment control module

NOTE:



Steps 2 -22 are required as part of this module software update process.



NOTE:



Steps 2 - 4: LR4 / Range Rover Sport only



2. Remove the lower trim panel. (Figure 1)



3. Release the two fir tree clips. (Figure 2)



4. Position the cable as shown. (Figure 3)

Steps 5-6: Range Rover only



5. Open glove compartment.



6. Remove fuse box cover to access cable. (Figure 4)



NOTE:



Steps 7 - 18: All vehicles



7. Connect the cable to the Navigation Update Tool. (Figure 5 [LR4 / Range Rover Sport shown])



8. Turn ignition 'ON'.



9. Select and hold the center of the Home Menu position of the HLDF for 10 seconds. (Figure 6)



10. Select and hold the left-side of the Home Menu position of the HLDF until the 'Diag PIN Entry' screen appears. (Figure 7)

11. From the Diag PIN Enty screen, select '7', '5', '3', and 'OK'. (Figure 8)



12. Select 'Next'. (Figure 9)



13. Select 'Loading'. (Figure 10)



14. Select OK. (Figure 11)



15. Turn ignition 'OFF' for a minimum of two (2) minutes.



16. When all tasks are complete, exit the current session by selecting the Close Session option.



17. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.



18. Remove the Navigation Update Tool.



NOTE:



Steps 19 - 20: LR4 / Range Rover Sport only.



19. Install the two fir tree clips. (Figure 2)



20. Install the lower trim panel. (Figure 1)



NOTE:Steps 21-22: Range Rover only.



21. Install fuse box cover to access cable. (Figure 4)



22. Close glove compartment.
