CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



In order to ensure that 2010 model year LR4 and Range Rover Sport vehicles are fitted with the very latest software to further enhance the vehicle



owners experience, affected vehicles may require a number of module software updates and the vehicle battery condition tested and, if necessary,



replaced. The actions that may require parts and/or a repair will provide the following enhancements:



^ Battery condition test / replacement - rectifies the possible non-start of customer vehicles The software module updates will provide the



following enhancements:



^ Body Control Module (BCM) software update - enhances battery durability



^ Driver and Passenger Memory Seat Modules software update - enhances battery durability



^ Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) software update - ensures a reliable start process



^ Immobilizer Antenna Unit (IAU) software update - ensures the emergency start / keyless start backup process is functional



^ Driver and Passenger Door Modules software update - rectifies the rear door glass not closing



^ Range Rover Sport only: Dynamic Response Control Module software update - stops unnecessary warning message display



Action: Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the



vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in



the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all



outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all



campaigns. For cars in Retailer inventory, this Service Action should be performed after completions of the vehicle Pre- Delivery



Inspection (PDI).

IDS with IDS-DVD121_V6.01 or later and Calibration 30 or later Land Rover-Approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply



WARRANTY:



NOTE:Always check DDW to verify that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to



undertaking any repairs. Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times I prices are subject to change; those quoted here must



be taken as guidance only. Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.



Warranty claims should be submitted quoting Program Code Q093, Option Code X, and the relevant SROs. The SRO for drive in I drive out may



only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.



This Service Action is valid for a limited time only and will expire on 31 March 2012. All Warranty claims up to this date must be submitted for



payment within 30 days of completion of the repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



TEST VEHICLE BATTERY - LR4 VINS AA508020 - AA525032 ONLY;



RANGE ROVER SPORT VINS AA208007 - AA230615 ONLY



1. Using the Midtronics tester, determine the battery condition.



^ Record Midtronics tester code in vehicle file.



^ If Replace Battery or Bad Cell Battery is displayed, replace the vehicle battery.



^ For all other results, proceed to UPDATE VEHICLE MODULE SOFTWARE.



UPDATE VEHICLE MODULE SOFTWARE - ALL VINS AS APPROPRIATE



CAUTION:



Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the



vehicle.



CAUTION:



A Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module



programming.



1. Connect the Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.



NOTE:



IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD121_V6.01 or later and Calibration File 30 or later.



2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.



3. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.



4. From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Campaigns'.



5. Follow on-screen prompts until the Recommendations tab is visible.



NOTE:



Only those modules requiring reconfiguration will show for the VIN range. Where required downloads are duplicate, SDD will only offer it



once.



6. From the list of recommendations, select Run for each of the following (one at a time; as necessary):



^ Configure existing module > Body control module



^ Configure existing module> Drivers seat module



^ Configure existing module > Passengers seat module



^ Configure existing module > Keyless vehicle module



NOTE:



Ignore the instruction to fit a new Immobilizer antenna unit (IAU) when instructed during the IAU configuration procedure.



^ Configure new modules> Immobilizer antenna unit



^ Configure existing module > Drivers door module



^ Configure existing module > Passengers door module



^ Configure existing module > Active ride control module (Dynamic Response)



^ Battery > Battery replacement (only if a new battery is installed)



7. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete these tasks.



8. Exit the current session.

9. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.



10. Close all doors, tailgate, and hood.



11. Lock the vehicle; wait 10 seconds.



12. Unlock the vehicle; wait 10 seconds.



13. Repeat steps 11 and 12.



14. Verify radio (AM / FM / CD / SDARS) operation.
