The C 200 has a new 135kW/280Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol enginewith a nine-speed auto sending drive to the rear wheels. The engine also has what Benz calls a ‘mild hybrid’ function. This isn’t a hybrid with an electric motor driving the wheels, it’s an electrical system able to provide an additional 10kW/160Nm when accelerating.
The C-Class was awarded the maximum five-star ANCAP rating when it was tested in 2014. The C 200 comes fitted with nine airbags, AEB which works most effectively at lower speeds and blind spot warning.
