SUBJECT
Missing Exhaust Heat Shield
MODEL
R50 (Cooper) produced from 7/02.
SITUATION
The engine exhaust heat shield, part number 51 48 7 511 704, was installed on early cars and not on later production cars.
CAUSE
The heat shield was determined to be unnecessary, and was deleted from production in July 2002.
CORRECTION
None.
PROCEDURE
The heat shield should not be retrofitted to cars produced from 7/02.
