Check Engine Light Illuminated with DTC 205C21
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the check engine light being illuminated with Diagnostic Trouble Code 205C21
(Temperature sensor the "AdBlue tank" has a short circuit to ground. The signal amplitude is less than the minimum amplitude) stored in the AdBlue
control unit (SCR), this may be due to a temperature difference between the intake air, coolant, exhaust and AdBlue temperatures of greater than 25°
C (77°F) after the engine is started.
This fault code may be set when the AdBlue tank is frozen (after the vehicle is parked for an extended period at cold temperatures) and the vehicle is
then driven into a warm location (workshop, garage) where the engine is started at least two times.
Note:
AdBlue Liquid freezes at temperatures lower than -11°C (12.2°F). To remedy this situation for the above condition, the fault code can be ignored
and erased from the control module memory.
Warning!
It is not necessary to replace any parts for this condition.
Note:
Prior to delivering a new vehicle which has been exposed to the above conditions, place the vehicle in the workshop for three days to ensure the tank
is completely thawed.
If the above conditions do not apply to this fault code, then diagnose the fault code according to the test steps in DAS.
