Front Side Windows: Move Up / Down Sluggishly or Noise When Opening / Closing
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles with the below front side window issues, please refer to the respective remedy.
Condition A: Model 164, Sluggish movement of front side window. This may be caused by incorrect alignment of the window glass.
Remedy A:
1. Remove door lining on front door. Refer to WIS document AR72.10-P-1000GZ.

2. Remove rubber grommets (Figure 1).
3. Completely lower front side window and then move it back up again to enable access to the window lifter support.
4. Remove bolts (Figure 2, 4) that attach the window and release slider insert (rubber) from front side window.
5. Realign window as per below steps (Figure 3).
a. Pull front side window out of the clamping at slight incline, and pull 50...60 mm straight up.
b. Realign front side window glass on B-pillar side of door run channel. The window glass should slightly enter the seal, do not bottom the glass in
the B Pillar portion of the seal.
c. Guide and lower front side window into B-pillar seal until contact with clamping jaw of the window lifter/regulator is registered.

6. Hold window in this position and tighten screws (7Nm) on window lifter support. Refer to WIS document BA72.10-P-1001-010.
7. Install rubber grommets (Figure 1).
Condition B: Model 164 / 251, Noise when opening and closing.
Remedy B:
1. Check window travel. If there is a noise when opening and closing the window, there may be a surface coating on the sealing rail.
2. Remove sealing rail. Refer to WIS document AR72.10-P-1600GZ.
3. Move the window, if the noise is no longer present replace the sealing rail.
4. Reassemble in reverse order.
