Mercedes Benz Truck ML 350 (164.156) Technical # LI32-22_P-053659 Date: 120425
Page 80
Suspension - Level Control System Restricted Or MIL ON
Level control system function restricted or multifunction display shows an "AIRmatic: Service Required" message
Topic number LI32.22-P-053659
Version 1
Design group3 2.22 Air suspension
Date 04-25-2012
Validity BR 164 with AIRmatic (SA 489)
Reason for change
Complaint:
Level control system function restricted (after pressing level control button the vehicle does not rise or lower), or the multifunction display shows an
"AIRmatic Service Required" message
The following fault codes can be stored:
5505 -> Correction times when charging the air suspension are too long.
5508 -> The pressure line system is leaky.
5503 -> Correction time for charging central reservoir is too long.
Cause:
Linkage for level sensor stuck. This results in an incorrect level value being sent to the AIRmatic control unit, which can result in faulty level
control.
Remedy:
Level linkage replacement.
Note:
When the compressor is actuated with XENTRY it may be that the compressor test is failed, because there is no corresponding feedback (level
change) to the AIRmatic control unit. The compressor is not the reason for the fault, and in these instances it must not be replaced!
Symptoms
Control unit/fault code
