Navigation - Becker(R)MAP PILOT 'No Navigation Module Connected
Becker MAP PILOT: Message "No navigation module connected" appears in the display
Topic number L182.61-P-055954
Version 2
Design group 82.61 Auto pilot system (APS), Audio 30 APS
Date 04-24-2013
Validity Model 117, 166, 172, 176, 204, 207, 212, 218, 242, 246
with Becker MAP PILOT (code 509) or preinstallation for
Becker MAP PILOT (code 508)
Reason for change
Complaint:
The Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) of the Becker MAP Pilot continuously or intermittently shows the message "No navigation module
Mercedes Benz Truck GLK 350 202
connected".. This message appears even though the navigation module (A2/30) is correctly locked in the bracket (A2/30-1) in the glove box.
Cause:
1.) Software in navigation module (A2/30).
2.) The tightening torque of the threaded connection between the bracket (A2/30-1) and the glove box is too high. This leads to mechanical stress
between the bracket (A2/30-1) and the navigation module (A2/30).
3.) The LVDS (low voltage differential signal) line is not correctly plugged into the radio (A2).
Note on 3.):
- In vehicles up to and including model year 2012 (code 802), no fault code is logged in the radio (A2); the connector color is blue.
- In vehicles as of model year 2013 (code 803), the fault code 953B is logged in the radio (A2); the connector color is green.

Remedy:
1.) Perform the following software updates in the navigation module (A2/30):
a) Update interface software (Automotive Software) in navigation module (A2/30) to version 12/21.00 (A 166 902 73 04) (available as of
XENTRY Diagnostics Release 09/12) or higher using XENTRY Diagnostics.
b) Update firmware in navigation module (A2/30) to version R22.3.1205 (available since Week 37/12) or higher using Becker Content Manager.
c) Update navigation software (PND software) in navigation module (A2/30) to version 2.0.50 (available since Week 37/12) or higher using
Becker Content Manager.
Note:
The updates of the navigation software (PND software) including firmware must be performed using the current Becker Content Manager. The
checks for updates on launching the Becker Content Manager must be activated in the "Settings" menu (see attachment). To update the
navigation software, it may be necessary to perform a free-of-charge update of the map data at the same time. Detailed information can be found
at www.beckermappilot.com. The update process can take up to several hours depending on your Internet connection.
2.) Remove bracket (A2/30-1) and reinstall without stress (see attachment):
Note:
The maximum permissible torque is
- 1.7 Nm for models 172 and 204.0, 204.2 and 204.3,
- 2.5 Nm for models 117, 166, 176, 204.9, 207, 212, 218, 242, and 246.
3.) In vehicles up to and including model year 2012 (code 802) and in vehicles as of model year 2013 with fault code 953B remove the radio (A2)
and check the LVDS (low voltage differential signal) line for correct engagement (see attachment).
