Complaint:
Complaint # 1:
Up to 15.10.2008 with code 500 (for identification, see attachment 2)
At cold temperatures (< 15°C), the electric folding outside mirror (code 500) makes creaking noises during the folding sequence.
Complaint # 2:
The electric folding outside mirror (code 500) sporadically makes a persistent whistling noise after reaching the end position for a short time.

Cause:
Cause of complaint # 1:
Material paring between coil spring and underside of sliding disk of folding mechanism (see attachment 1)
Cause of complaint # 2:
Brush position of electric motor.

Remedy:
Remedy for complaint # 1:
- Please note: In the event of complaints, repair both outside mirrors!
1. Remove outside mirror trim (see WIS references).
2. Grease clawed disk in area of slots (see attachment 1).
3. Drill hole (diameter 3 mm) at a height of 3 cm (see attachment 3).
146
4. Grease the sliding disk. It must be greased with the outside mirror in three positions (folded in, intermediate position and folded out => see
attachments 4 and 5).
5. operate outside mirrors electrically several times (approx. 8 times).
6. Install outside mirror trim (see WIS references).
Remedy for complaint # 2:
1) Reduce energizing time (actuation period) of outside mirrors to 4 s via Xentry Diagnostics (not DAS).
Xentry Diagnostics: Door control units - View (DCU-LF-left or right front door) => Version (DCU-LF - left or right front door) Adaptations =>
Folding in/out of outside mirrors (change of actuation period to 4 s).
NOTE:
Reducing the actuation period to 4 s eliminates 80% of complaints.
2) In vehicles still suffering from complaints after the actuation period is reduced to 4 s, install the mirror frame (frame) with noise-optimized folding
drive 9see parts)
General Information:
In vehicles without code 275 (Memory package), the mirror motor (see Parts) must also be ordered when replacing the mirror frame, as described in
the EPC; - P
*Sufficient for 2 cars, submit as Local Purchase - AFS01294, Qty 1, handling is included
