Mercedes Benz 210 Chassis Climate Control

Before buying a climate control panel for the Mercedes Benz 210 Chassis, i.e. E-Class 1996-2002, it is imperative you know the following information.
Mercedes Benz released numerous part numbers for the climate control in these cars.  The oldest of the numbers is 210 830 0485.  This unit is distinguishable from all the other 210 climates as it is the smallest and has one less button on the panel.  It is advised that you replace a 210 ...0485 with the exact same number.
When in doubt about your climate control part number (all with the exception of the 0485), buy ONLY 210 830 3285 as it is the newest number in the series.
It is important to replace the controller with the same number or the newest part number.  We therefore recommend that you replace as follows:
210 830 0585 (with ONLY 210 830 0585 or alternately 210 830 3285 - there has been only a few cases where the substitution was not seamless).
210 830 0785 (with ONLY 210 830 0785 or alternately 210 830 3285 - as above)
210 830 2285 (with ONLY 210 830 2285, 210 830 2385, 210 830 2485 or 210 830 3285)
210 830 2385 (with ONLY, 210 830 2385, 210 830 2485 or 210 830 3285)
210 830 2485 (with only 210 830 2485 or 210 830 3285)
210 830 3285 has no replacement.  However, 210 830 2485 has been known to work in its stead 99% of the times.
