Reason for change

Reason for block

Complaint:

Automatic transmission oil loss in the area of the electrical connection and oil pan gasket and/or in the wiring harness.

Different remedial action is necessary based on the type of complaint (a or b).

a) Transmission oil loss in area of pilot bushing, oil pan

b) There is transmission oil in the wiring harness.

Cause:

The following causes may apply and require different repair methods:

a) Due to insufficient sealing of the large O-ring of the pilot bushing outwards, transmission oil has distributed itself in the area of the plug/oil pan

gasket.

b) Due to insufficient sealing of the small O-ring of the pilot bushing, there is transmission oil in the wiring harness.

Remedy:

Carry out remedies according to the complaint:

a) Clean the transmission in the affected area, spray with leak detector spray and perform road test. If no oil escape can be detected after the road test

or can only be detected in the area of the pilot bushing, only replace the pilot bushing. Use damage code 27270 04.

b) !!!!Procedure modified !!!!

Replace pilot bushing with seal rings.

The conductor plate is not the cause of leakage complaints at the pilot bushing and must not be replaced on these grounds.

Allow the wiring harness to drip and blow out the plugs at the transmission end and control unit end with compressed air. In addition the control unit

contacts must be blown dry.

The contacts can then be sprayed lightly with commercially available contact spray. Use damage code 27270 04.

Notes:

In the course of the production and inspection processes, the pilot bushing is coated with oil. Because of this, oil from manufacture can therefore

enter the pilot bushing and form a small puddle (see attachment). However, a larger quantity of oil should not flow out of the pilot bushing when the

pilot bushing (at the wiring harness end) is pulled. If this is the case, the pilot bushing must be replaced.

When connecting the wiring harness to the transmission, make sure that the wiring harness is routed free of tension.

No tensile forces may be transferred to the plug by the wiring harness. Increase outer cable length if necessary (no reason to replace a wiring

harness). The pictures in the attachment show examples of bad (Figure 2) and good (Figure 1) routing.

Lamp unit fogged/droplets forming

Topic number LI82.10-P-051769

Version 2

Design group 82.10 Exterior lights

Date 09-05-2012

Validity All models

Reason for change New repair method

Complaint

Lamp unit fogged or droplets forming.

Cause

Due to the vent openings, the lamp unit is an "open system".

This means that acidic gases, moisture, dirt and exhaust gases can penetrate it.

This can result in deposits on the diffuser and lens.

Remedy

Check housing cover of lamp unit for natural fogging or dew as per LI82.10-P-050139.

1. If a reduction in the degree of fogging is visible, the pressure compensation membrane can be inserted after complete evaporation of the dew.

2. If no reduction in the degree of fogging is visible, the lamp unit is defective and must be replaced.

However, the cover with the pressure compensation membrane should also be attached in this case.

Note:

Residual fogging is possible due to the laws of physics and is OK.

2010 Mercedes Benz Truck Sprinter 2500 Crew (906.733) V6-3.0L DSL Turbo (642.898)

Page 33

Fogging does not impair the functionality or the service life of the lamp unit.

Pressure compensation membranes should always be used on both lamp units.

Attach housing cover with pressure compensation membrane:

1. Remove lamp unit

2. Remove all vent opening grommets.

3. Seal vent openings with sealing profile.

Important:

All openings must be sealed carefully for the pressure compensation membrane to work properly!

4. Insert housing cover with pressure compensation membrane.

5. Install lamp unit.

W/S 204 Attach pressure compensation membrane to housing cover of lamp unit:

1. Remove lamp unit

2. Remove all vent opening grommets.

3. Seal vent openings with sealing profile.

Important:

All openings must be sealed carefully for the pressure compensation membrane to work properly!

4. Remove housing cover of lamp unit.

5. Drill and deburr three holes in the housing cover of the lamp unit as per the template (see attachment).

6. Glue on the pressure compensation membrane.

Bonding note:

The substrate must be free of dust and grease.

7. Reattach housing cover of lamp unit.

8. Install lamp unit.

Antitheft System - Interruptions In Radio Operated Systems

Date: September 22, 2010

Order No.: V-B-80.57/01

Group: 80

SUBJECT:

MY-All, Models 903, 904, 906

Interruptions in Radio-Operated Vehicle Systems

In the frequency range of the transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO, many other radio-operated systems can also be transmitting and with a stronger

signal. Systems such as, radio frequency headphones, radio thermometer, garage door opener, alarm systems, etc. can prevent or interrupt unlocking,

locking, and engine starting via a KEYLESS-GO.

Fortunately, in parallel with radio remote control, most MB vehicles also have infrared remote control, so that even with radio disturbance, the

transmitter key will unlock and lock at short range. Exceptions are the 903 and the 904 as they do not have additional infrared remote control, but the

mechanical key will always work.

Advise customers that taking a vehicle key is always recommended as it is conceivable that a criminal might use a radio interferer to block the

locking of a vehicle. Locking is ensured by 3-signal flashing.

Complaint:

The load compartment sliding door catches or is difficult to operate.

The cable track of the load compartment sliding door is cracked, resulting in noises.

Cause:

Dirt from the cargo area (e.g. stones, packaging waste) gets jammed in the movement radius of the cable track, restricting the movement of the cable

track. The cable track can crack.

Remedy:

In order to minimize the amount of dirt entering the area of the load compartment sliding door cable track and to avoid damage to the cable track, a

foam section should be glued onto the load compartment sliding door (see attachment). The length of the foam section should be made to fit the

width of the load compartment sliding door.

^ Make sure that all foreign objects under the step are removed (vacuumed out). The cable track must be able to move properly.

^ Dirt and dust can also settle under the film on the floor panel below the cable track (see picture 10 and 11 in attachment). This area must also be

cleaned entirely.

It is not necessary to remove the door for this work!

Note:

The cable track must not be greased.

Check the setting of the lower sliding carriage and correct it if necessary.

Remedy:

Swift implementation of the necessary repair work prevents subsequent damage at a later date and can be performed without damage to the

paintwork. For this reason we would ask you to perform the necessary repair work as quickly

as possible!

Remove/install the rear lamps on both sides of the vehicle. Remove the sealing seams above the rear lamps from the joint to a height of approx. 20

cm. The adjacent paint surfaces should be masked with two layers of fabric tape to prevent

damage. Any existing corrosion features in the joints must be eliminated if necessary in accordance with MB guidelines. To do this, use primer

and filler materials from the paint partners approved in the warranty systems. Then remove the fabric tape and re-mask the exposed joints with

masking tape. Then prime the joints. Next, renew the masking tape again and apply a new sealing seam to the joints. Mold the new sealing seams and

extend then into the recesses for the rear lamps (see Fig. 1).

Replacing Torsion Bar Mounts

As of production period 07/2010, a modified rubber

mount (Figure 1) (1) to the stabilizer bar on the front axle is available. In contrast to the old rubber mount Figure 1 (3) this is a torsion bearing,

which has to be installed and bolted at the zero position. The stabilizer bar (Figure 1) (2) is then hooked into the link rods.

When a repair is necessary only install the new rubber mounts (Figure 1) (1) and make sure to do both

sides.

The bearing shells with bolts must also be replaced to maintain proper balance of the parts.

See WIS document AR32.20-D-0300H for instructions on removing and installing the stabilizer bar on the front axle.

Test and Adjustment Values for Torsion Bar

The Installed dimension for the lower edge of front axle carrier to stabilizer bar (Figure 2) (dimension A) is 59.5mm. (WIS document

Fuel System - Remedy For Incorrect Fuel In Tank

Date: January 24, 2012

Order No.: V-B-47.10/01a

V-B-47.10/01, December 7, 2011

Group: 47

Revision a:

Added Chassis 902.

SUBJECT:

MY-All, Model 902 with Engine 612, 903, 904, and 906 with Engine 642 and 647

Procedure for When Diesel Fuel Tank is Filled with Incorrect Fuel Type

If the above model diesel powered vehicles with a common rail injection system have been refueled with gasoline, kerosene, etc. and/or other

mixtures thereof, follow the steps below to remedy. In addition, biodiesel fuel above 5% (B5) in the fuel tank is not permitted for use in the above

model vehicles. Please follow the procedure below.

Note:

If the fuel tank is filled with the wrong type of fuel this may not be submitted as a warranty claim.

If the engine was NOT started after the fuel tank was filled with the wrong type of fuel, then emptying the tank and cleaning the fuel low-pressure

lines should be enough to resolve the problem.

If the engine was started after the fuel tank was filled with the wrong type of fuel, disconnect the Y-distributor unit (return line high pressure

pump/rail) at the output and with the ignition ON collect the fuel in

a clean container. Check fuel for shavings.

If there are no shavings in the injection system and the high pressure pump is not damaged, emptying the fuel tank, cleaning the low pressure lines

and changing the fuel filter should resolve the condition.

If metal shavings are found in the injection system and/or the high pressure pump is damaged, replace the following components to ensure there are

no metal particles in the fuel system. Refer to EPCNet for applicable part number.

a) Fuel Tank

b) Low Pressure fuel pump

c) Fuel Filter

d) High Pressure pump

e) Rail (Including Pressure regulating valve and the rail pressure sensor) f) High pressure lines and the leak lines

g) Injectors

The low pressure lines need to be thoroughly cleaned.

If there are no shavings in the injection system and the high pressure pump is damaged, the reason for the damaged high pressure pump must be

found and resolved prior to replacing the high pressure pump.
