High Beam Assist temporarily inoperative
Topic number LI82.10-P-053439

Design Group 82.10 Exterior lights
Date 06-12-2012

Complaint:
When the High Beam Assist is activated a "High Beam Assist inoperative" message appears in the instrument cluster.
Switch-on conditions for High Beam Assist:
- High Beam Assist in instrument cluster menu "On"
- Multifunction switch set to high beam position
- Light sensor detects "Night"
Cause:
In isolated circumstances, it can happen that the multifunction camera fails to log into the data bus CAN in the temperature ranges (23 °F to + 41 °F
and 68 °F to 86 °F). A fault code entry is not made. Following a renewed ignition sequence and a change in component temperature, the system is
operational again.
Remedy:
Replace MFK and calibrate with the aid of the "calibration target for Night View Assist" special tool (W 000 589 01 20 00).
