Our first stage on Nürburgring | YANGWANG U9

The Yangwang U9, an electric supercar by BYD’s luxury sub-brand, boasts powerful performance, futuristic design, and impressive innovation. Equipped with a quad-motor system called the "Yisifang" setup, the U9 generates around 1,288 horsepower, allowing it to reach 0-60 mph in approximately two seconds, placing it alongside some of the world’s fastest electric vehicles. Initially marketed with a top speed of 186 mph, recent tests have shown the U9 can actually reach up to 233 mph, highlighting its exceptional performance potential.

A standout feature of the U9 is its advanced DiSus-X suspension, which includes a "hop" capability—allowing the car to lift itself off the ground momentarily, useful for navigating difficult terrain and enhancing stability at high speeds. Its design combines elements of hypercar aerodynamics with unique details like C-shaped headlights, scissor doors, and a louvered rear window, giving it a striking look reminiscent of high-end European models. Inside, luxury materials and cutting-edge tech are expected to reflect its premium positioning.

The Yangwang U9 is priced around ¥1 million (approximately $215,000), which is highly competitive for an electric supercar with this level of performance. It’s aimed at rivaling other high-end EVs like the Aion Hyper SSR and Lotus Evija but offers distinct features and styling at a relatively lower price point. Currently, Yangwang’s plans to expand into international markets remain limited to Asia, but it signifies BYD's push into the premium electric vehicle market.
