The 2023 Kia Sorento comes in six trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige and SX-Prestige X-Line. The base LX model starts at $30,090 and comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. The LX can seat up to seven passengers with a second-row bench seat or six passengers with optional captain's chairs.


The S trim adds $2,000 to the base price and upgrades to a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. It also adds an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, roof rails, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, a wireless charging pad and keyless entry and ignition. The S trim can also be equipped with all-wheel drive for an extra $1,800.

The EX trim costs $36,590 and switches to a hybrid powertrain that combines a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 1.5-kWh battery pack. The hybrid system generates 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The EX trim also adds leatherette upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a frameless rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors and a hands-free liftgate. The EX trim can only seat six passengers with captain's chairs.

The SX trim starts at $39,090 and brings back the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It also adds a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, LED fog lights, a digital gauge cluster display, power-folding exterior mirrors and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The SX trim can seat up to seven passengers with a second-row bench seat or six passengers with captain's chairs.

The SX-Prestige trim costs $41,790 and adds leather seating surfaces, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, a surround-view camera system and a head-up display. The SX-Prestige trim can only seat six passengers with captain's chairs.

The SX-Prestige X-Line trim is the top-of-the-line model that costs $43,690 and adds all-wheel drive as standard along with unique exterior styling elements such as black wheels, bumpers and roof rails. It also adds an increased ride height of 8.2 inches (up from 6.9 inches), hill descent control and an electronic locking center differential for improved off-road capability.

The 2023 Kia Sorento also offers a plug-in hybrid option that is only available in the SX-Prestige trim level. The plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a 13.8-kWh battery pack. The plug-in hybrid system produces 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid Sorento has an estimated electric range of 32 miles and an estimated combined fuel economy of 79 MPGe.

The 2023 Kia Sorento is one of the best midsize SUVs on the market thanks to its attractive design, spacious cabin, advanced technology and diverse powertrain choices.
