How powerful is the 2022 BMW M3 Competition xDrive?

Text
The M3 Competition model comes with 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque and is paired to an 8-speed automatic and comes with the new option of xDrive trim. The 2022 M3 Competition xDrive will come with 3 drive modes - 4WD is standard, 4WD Sport which directs most torque to the rear wheels, and 2WD - all the torque is sent to the rear wheels.
These are the same numbers for the M3 Competition model. However, the M3 Competition xDrive will give 16 MPG in the city, 22 MPG on the highway, and 18 MPG combined. That said, based on the average fuel price if you drive the 2022 BMW M3 for 15,000 miles per year then in 5 years the price you would have paid for fuel would be around $14,000.
For 2021, the M3–along with the two-door M4 coupe, which we review separately–is all-new and represents the sixth generation of the iconic sports sedan. It's a pity that the more powerful M3 Competition is only offered with an automatic transmission because the six-speed manual on the regular version is hugely satisfying.
The M3 Competition's engine is even more powerful, generating 503 horses and 479 pound-feet, but it's only offered with the eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but the Competition will eventually be offered with all-wheel drive, too. Every M3 also features adaptive dampers and adjustable brake-pedal feel.
