The read only memory (ROM) test has failed 5 or more times.

The TCM has been unable to detected the start program.

P0603

The TCM has detected a memory checksum error.

P0604

The TCM random access memory (RAM) test has failed 5 or more times.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

P0601, P0602, P0603, P0604

* DTCs P0601, P0603, P0604 are Type A DTCs.

* The TCM commands maximum line pressure.

* The TCM forces the torque converter clutch (TCC) OFF.

* The TCM inhibits TCC engagement.

Defrosting Time/Performance Concern

The electrochromatic (auto-dimming) outside rearview mirror used on the driver's side of many GM vehicles is slower to defrost than the passenger

side outside rearview mirror.

This is a normal condition. The glass on the driver's side electrochromatic mirror is twice as thick as the traditional glass on the passenger side

mirror. The heating elements for the mirrors on both sides draw the same wattage, therefore the driver's side mirror will take approximately twice as

long to defrost as the passenger mirror (approximately four minutes versus two minutes). Should a customer indicate that the driver's side heated

mirror is not functioning correctly, verify it's function based upon this information prior to replacing the mirror.

2. Perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic

Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/6T70/6T75 - Automatic Transmission/Control

Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection).

3. Place the control solenoid valve assembly on a clean work surface near the transmission assembly.

4. Connect the DT-47825-20 adapter harness between the vehicle wire harness electrical connector, and the control solenoid valve assembly

electrical connector.

5. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the following test status parameters display OK:

* TCC PC Sol. Perf. Test Status

* TCC PC Sol. Ctrl. Ckt. High Voltage Test Status

* TCC PC Sol. Ctrl. Ckt. Low Voltage Test Status

瀚慖f any test status parameter displays Fault or Malfunction, replace the control solenoid valve assembly.

Purists  once scoffed at the idea of a Porsche SUV. The idea of a sporty family shuttle,  infused with the moves of a 911 sports car, seemed as alien as an  electric-powered Porsche. The  2022 Cayenne expertly melds midsize luxury SUV utility with precise handling, a  range of powerful engines, and what feels like an intravenous connection to the  road from the driver's seat. 

This  year, the Cayenne carries over largely as before. Diagnostic Aids

* The engine oil condition has a major impact on the camshaft actuator system.

* A low oil level condition may set this DTC. The engine may require an oil change. Inquire with the customer when the last oil change was

performed. You may also monitor the scan tool Engine Oil Life parameter. Advise the customer an oil change may be required.

* Inspect the engine for any recent engine mechanical repairs. An incorrectly installed camshaft, camshaft actuator, or timing chain can cause

this DTC to set.

Circuit/System Verification

Note: The engine oil level and the oil pressure are critical to the correct operation of the camshaft position actuator system. Verify that the

engine has the correct oil level and the correct oil pressure before continuing with this diagnostic.

1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool DTC information. Verify that none of the following DTCs are set. DTC P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019,

P0335, P0336, P0338, P0341, P0342, P0343, P0346, P0347, P0348, P0366, P0367, P0368, P0391, P0392, P0393, P0521, P0522, P0523,

P0638, P2100, P2101, P2102, P2103, or P2119.

2. Engine idling, command the appropriate Camshaft Position Actuator from 0 degrees to 40 degrees and back to zero while observing the

appropriate scan tool Camshaft Position Variance parameters. The Camshaft Position Variance should be less than 2 degrees in each of the

commanded states.

3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the

conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate Q6 Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve.

2. Ignition ON, load test for B+ between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.

瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal

and the ignition circuit fuse is open, test all the components connected to the ignition circuit and replace as necessary.

Note: Use the J 35616-200 - Test Lamp Kit for this test. If the J 35616-200 - Test Lamp Kit is not available, use a test lamp that measures

greater than 20 ohm.

3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and B+.

Note: The voltage must be measured at the control side of the circuit.
