Circuit/System Description
The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is a variable resistor that measures the temperature of the engine coolant. The engine control module
(ECM) supplies 5 V to the ECT signal circuit and supplies a ground to the low reference circuit.
Conditions for Running the DTC
P0117
* The engine is running for greater than 10 s.
OR
* The ignition is ON when the intake air temperature (IAT) is less than 50掳C (122掳F).
* This DTC runs continuously when the above conditions are met.
P0118
* The engine is running for greater than 10 s.
OR
* The ignition is ON when the IAT is greater than 0掳C (32掳F).
* This DTC runs continuously when the above conditions are met.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
P0117
The ECM detects that the ECT is warmer than 150掳C (302掳F) for greater than 5 s.
