RALEIGH, N.C., June 14, 2019 – It was a memorable weekend for Triangle Rowing Club (TRC) at the 2019 Youth National Championships at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida on June 5th-9th.. The weather was overcast and humid, however that did not stop Brooke Benestad and Sophia VonDauber of the TRC Women’s Pair from taking 3rd place in the Nation! This Women’s Pair is the first to ever win a medal at Nationals from the state of North Carolina. Sophia VonDauber is a rising senior at Apex Friendship High School in Apex, NC, and Brooke Benestad is a 2019 graduate of Cary High School in Cary, NC. In the Fall, Brooke will join the Ohio State Women’s Rowing team, a nationally ranked Division I powerhouse.
