In some ways it’s sort of hard to place the BMW M6 coupe in a specific segment. Reason being is that it really doesn’t have many competitors. The six-figure, 500-plus, high-performance coupe market isn’t exactly the biggest out there, but there are still enough buyers for BMW to continue justifying the mighty M6. We recently spent some time with a 2017 M6 and, simply put, we want one. It’s big, it has presence, and there’s a grand total of 560 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque coming from its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.
Sure, you could opt for the also impressive M5 sedan, but, honestly, the M6 is sexier. Its rear seats? Not quite as useless for human beings as those found in a Porsche 911. Tipping the scales at a grand total of 4,250 pounds, the M6 is not exactly a lightweight fighter, but that twin-turbo V8 helps it blast from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.1 seconds.
Step inside and you’ll be treated to a gorgeous interior. Our M6 was equipped with the $3,500 Sakhir Orange/Black Full Merino leather trim pack along with tons of carbon fiber trim throughout. And as with any M car, additional features are awesome but, man, they’re expensive. For example, the Executive Package tacks on an additional $5,100, and that gives you a heated steering wheel, power rear sunshade and a Bang & Olufsen Sound System. Want Apple CarPlay compatibility? Fork over another $300. BMW M6 ownership isn’t cheap but if you can swing it, then you’ll drive away extremely happy. Special thanks to Niello BMW-Sacramento for letting us film the car.
