Circuit/System Description



The heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) are used for fuel control and catalyst monitoring. Each HO2S compares the oxygen content of the surrounding



air with the oxygen content of the exhaust stream. When the engine is started, the control module operates in an Open Loop mode, ignoring the



HO2S signal voltage while calculating the air-to-fuel ratio. While the engine runs, the HO2S heats up and begins to generate a voltage within a



range of 0-1,275 mV. Once sufficient HO2S voltage fluctuation is observed by the control module, Closed Loop is entered. The control module



uses the HO2S voltage to determine the air-to-fuel ratio. An HO2S voltage that increases toward 1,000 mV indicates a rich fuel mixture. An HO2S



voltage that decreases toward 0 mV indicates a lean fuel mixture.



The heating elements inside each HO2S heat the sensor to bring the sensor up to operating conditions faster. This allows the system to enter Closed



Loop earlier and the control module to calculate the air-to-fuel ratio sooner.

Few cars, including other sports cars we love, offer the same purity of mission as the 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman. Its mid-engine arrangement and expertly tuned suspension give it a joyful driving demeanor that's truly addictive. Buyers can choose from a horizontally opposed four- or six-cylinder engine, the latter of which sings a siren's song that encourages aggressive driving. Fans of open-air driving will find the 718 Boxster a similar experience, but we review that model separately. While the Cayman commands a price premium over rivals such as the Chevy Corvette and Toyota Supra, its focused persona and Porsche brand image are enough to justify the increased cost. Of course, its transcendent driving traits are what secure its spot on our 10Best list.
Porsche heats up the Cayman line further with the GT4 RS track-oriented model. It borrows the 4.0-liter flat-six from the brilliant 911 GT3, tuned here for 493 hp, and adds suspension revisions and aerodynamics aimed at improving lap times. The RS also spawns a full-race version named the GT4 RS Clubsport, which is suitable for competition in several current road-racing series. The Cayman sees few changes for 2022, but the sports coupe is now available in two new colors—Shark Blue and Frozenberry Metallic. A handful of new customization features is also available, including key fobs painted to match the exterior body color and several leather accessories from key pouches and floormats to owner's manual covers.
We'd pony up for the GTS 4.0 model to unlock the sweeter flat-six engine. We'd also keep the standard manual transmission because it's more fun to operate than the auto. Plus, every GTS comes with desirable performance equipment, including the adjustable and nicely bolstered Sport Seats Plus, a snorty exhaust system, an adaptive sport-tuned suspension, and black 20-inch wheels. It also boasts the Sport Chrono package, which brings a limited-slip differential, brake-based torque vectoring, and the obligatory clock on top of the dashboard. We'd also recommend taking advantage of the Porsche Experience Center. For $395 (plus a $50 damage waiver fee), you will be receive coaching and track time in your new Porsche at either the Atlanta or Los Angeles location. If you don't live in those areas, you can travel and book time in one of Porsche's vehicles instead. Prices for those experiences range from as low as $400 to as high as $900 depending on location and model.
Porsche offers an assortment of potent engines on the Cayman. The entry-level version is a 300-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four. The S variant is motivated by a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four that generates 350 horses. While the four-cylinders provide quick acceleration, we take issue with the coarse sounds they produce. Thankfully, the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six fixes the Cayman's auditory issues. In addition to the intoxicating noises it makes, the six-cylinder generates 394 ponies in the GTS 4.0, 414 in GT4, and 493 in the new GT4 RS. Regardless of which engine you choose, every Cayman comes standard with a slick six-speed manual transmission—perhaps the best one on the market. If you're not into that, you can get a quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. The Cayman's willful chassis and telepathic steering transcend perfection. Credit the Cayman's mid-engine layout and sticky summer tires, which work together to provide the sports coupe with stunning balance and stability on twisty two-lane roads. This car is a sublime mix of heady handling and a relatively relaxed ride.
The EPA estimates the base Cayman will achieve up to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The more powerful S model is rated at 19 mpg city and 25 highway with the automatic, and a manual-equipped GT4 is rated at 16 mpg city and 23 highway. We tested the base car and a Cayman S on our 200-mile highway route, and both delivered a thrifty 32 mpg in the real world. Easy-to-understand gauges, comfortable seats, and well-placed controls give the Cayman's cabin a form-fitting feeling, not unlike a superhero's suit. Still, a plethora of hard buttons and a number of cheap plastic pieces keep the interior from standing out in this class. Fortunately, Porsche will cover just about any surface in leather—at a cost, of course. A compact front trunk complements the Cayman's rear cargo area, providing the small sports car with cargo space that rivals the best of its competitive set. We fit two carry-on suitcases in the trunk and two in the frunk. A steep rear-hatch angle, however, means owners will need to use soft duffel bags to make the most of the available space.
The Cayman's standard touchscreen infotainment system is straightforward and offers generally quick response times to user inputs. While Porsche nickels and dimes its customers by charging extra for some features, such as built-in navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot, every model now has Apple CarPlay compatibility. Android Auto isn't available, though. The audio system can be upgraded to either a Bose stereo or a high-end Burmester unit that has 12 speakers and a total output of 821 watts.
The Cayman is available with a handful of driver-assistance technologies and comes standard with front and rear parking sensors. Circuit/System Description



The shift control solenoid (SLB1) is installed on the front valve body. The solenoid linearly controls hydraulic pressure in response to signals



output from the transmission control module TCM. Through this, the SLB1 controls operating hydraulic pressure to the brake for smooth shifting.



According to each shift control solenoid assembly, the transmission shifts from 1st gear into 6th gear and vice versa. As a fail-safe function, if any



shift control solenoid assembly abnormality occurs, the TCM will disable the current to the solenoids.

"Between 2007-2009, the Acura ZDX, the Honda Crosstour and the BMW X6 all hit the scene as SUVs/crossovers with sloping, fastback-style roofs, long before the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. It was Michelle Christensen that coined the ZDX a ""four-door luxury sports coupe,"" which Acura at the time said, ""blurs the distinction between coupe, sedan and sport utility vehicle."" We thought they were goofy-looking then, and still do. But it's hard to say they weren't ahead of their time."
"About a decade later, the Volkswagen Group brought out its own handful of these four-door vehicles called ""coupes,"" but they mostly had flat roofs, even if they were lower than their standard SUV counterparts. Audi, Porsche, Bentley and VW all managed to produce one, but it's the horizontal look, like the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe and the GTS-spec version we had on our test drive, that jettisons the egg appearance and homes in on what makes a big car look good. This Cayenne Coupe and the Audi SQ8 are the best looking of the bunch, though the Bentley Bentayga and VW Atlas Cross are also handsome."
The Cayenne Coupe comes in a variety of flavors, topped by the 453-horsepower GTS. All are fast but the GTS makes you wonder why you'd ever need a Cayenne Turbo Coupe. Dynamically, it feels like a Porsche. The steering wheel felt connected directly to the tires, even though it's an electronic setup, and the brakes were race-car strong. There were a few ergonomic and technology elements that annoyed us, but the selection of upgrades on the GTS make it the sweet spot of the lineup. Besides those VW Group cars we mentioned, the Cayenne Coupe fights for sales against the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE-Coupe. The Porsche is dynamically superior to these competitors but it does require you to pay a premium.

Special Coverage Adjustment



This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from



the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.



Dealers are to replace the throttle position sensor and reprogram the Engine Control Module. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.



For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after September 21, 2012, are covered by this special



coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to September 21, 2012,



must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.

by December 31, 2013, unless otherwise specified by state law. If this is not convenient for the customer, they may mail the completed Customer



Reimbursement Request Form and all required documents to the GM Customer Assistance Center. Repairs must have occurred within the 10 years



of the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first.



All reasonable and customary costs to correct the condition described in this bulletin should be considered for reimbursement. Any



questions or concerns should be reviewed with your District Service Manager - Aftersales prior to processing the request.



When a customer requests reimbursement, they must provide the following:



- A completed Customer Reimbursement Request Form. This form is mailed to the customer or can be obtained through GM GlobalConnect.



- The name and address of the person who paid for the repair.



- Paid receipt confirming the amount of the repair expense, a description of the repair, and the person or entity performing the repair.



Important



GM requires dealers to approve or deny a reimbursement request within 30 days of receipt. If a reimbursement request is approved, the



dealer should immediately issue a check to the customer and submit an appropriate warranty transaction for the incurred expense. If a



reimbursement request is denied, the dealer MUST provide the customer with a clear and concise explanation, in writing, as to why the request



was denied. The bottom portion of the Customer Reimbursement Request Form may be used for this purpose. If the denial was due to missing



documents, the customer can resubmit the request when the missing documents are obtained, as long as it is still within the allowed reimbursement



period.



Warranty transactions for customer reimbursement of previously paid repairs are to be submitted as required by GM Global Warranty Management.

Customer Reimbursement - For Canada and Export

1. With a scan tool, verify that DTC P2135 is set as Current or in History.



- If DTC P2135 is set as Current or in History, proceed to Step 2 and perform the service procedure in this bulletin.



- If DTC P2135 is NOT set as Current or in History, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle or Symptoms - Engine



Controls in SI. Determine cause of condition. Repairs, if required, are NOT covered by the labor operation codes in this bulletin. Bill



repair under warranty, goodwill assistance or customer pay.



2. Turn OFF the ignition.



3. Open the hood.



Note



If at any time during this procedure the throttle body is dropped, abort this procedure and REPLACE it with a new throttle body assembly.



4. Remove the throttle body and discard the throttle body gasket. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement in SI.



5. Remove any loose debris and dirt from the throttle body assembly and the TP sensor cover. Inspect the throttle body for damage.



Caution



Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components.



6. Clean the throttle body bore and the throttle plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner, P/N 1052626 (in Canada, P/N



993026), or AC-Delco Upper Engine and Fuel Injector Cleaner, P/N X66-P, or an equivalent product.

Note



DO NOT mount the throttle body in a vise. The throttle body can be set on the top of a soft protected workbench area.



7. Hold the throttle body with your hand, so that the throttle position (TP) sensor cover is facing upward as shown.



8. Secure a rubber band around the throttle body and TP sensor cover as shown.



9. Turn over the throttle body and use a flathead screwdriver to remove the two clips (1, 2) as shown. Discard the clips.



Caution



Do NOT pry on the machined sealing surface of the throttle body inlet duct.



10. Turn over the throttle body and use a flathead screwdriver to remove the four remaining clips from the TP sensor cover. Discard the clips.



11. Hold the throttle body with your hand, so that the TP sensor cover is facing upward. Grasp the TP sensor cover and carefully lift it up and



separate it from the throttle body.

Note



DO NOT allow the intermediate gear to fall out.



12. Maintain the throttle body in an upward position. Use your thumb to maintain contact with the intermediate gear.



If the intermediate gear falls out and impacts a hard workbench surface or the floor, abort this procedure and REPLACE with a new throttle



body assembly.



13. Verify that the TP sensor cover gasket HAS REMAINED in the TP sensor cover as shown. Ensure that the gasket is accounted for and



remains with the old TP sensor cover.



Note



If one or both of the TP sensor cover female throttle actuator motor terminals HAVE BEEN retained on the throttle actuator motor male



terminals (2), remove and discard those female terminals.



14. Observe the TP sensor cover for missing female throttle actuator motor terminals (1). Verify that the female throttle actuator motor terminals



HAVE REMAINED in the TP sensor cover and HAVE NOT been retained on the throttle actuator motor male terminals (2). Discard the old



TP sensor cover, gasket and terminals.



15. Remove the new TP sensor cover from the protective shipping wrapper.

If the TP sensor drive slot orientation is not aligned as shown, use a small flathead screwdriver to gently rotate the TP sensor drive slot



clockwise to the wide open throttle (WOT) position as shown.



16. Place the TP sensor cover in the position as shown. Confirm the TP sensor drive slot orientation is aligned in the TP sensor cover as shown.



17. Verify that the TP sensor cover gasket is secure and properly positioned.



Note



The three TP sensor cover alignment tabs are highlighted in white for identification purposes only.



18. Verify that all three of the TP sensor cover alignment tabs are present and are not damaged.



19. Grasp and hold the throttle body in the previously hand held upward position. Lightly depress the intermediate gear to verify that it is fully



seated and the gears are engaged.

20. Rotate the throttle body plate to the WOT position (1).



21. Position and install the TP sensor cover to the throttle body. Hold the TP sensor cover in position. If necessary for ease of the clip



installation, secure a rubber band around the throttle body and TP sensor cover.



22. Install the first new TP sensor cover clip (1) in the position shown.



23. Install the remaining new TP sensor cover clips in the sequence shown.



24. Install a NEW throttle body gasket to the intake manifold.



25. Install the throttle body, bolts and nuts. DO NOT tighten the fasteners yet.



26. Connect the electrical connector to the throttle body.



27. Turn ON the ignition. Clear the DTC with a scan tool.



28. Observe the scan tool TP Sensor 1 and 2 Agree/Disagree parameter while slowly depressing the accelerator pedal to WOT and then slowly



returning the pedal to closed throttle. Repeat the procedure several times. Rapidly depress the accelerator pedal from the rest position to the



wide open throttle position (WOT) and release pedal. Repeat the procedure several times. The TP Sensor 1 and 2 Agree/Disagree parameter



should display Agree.



- If TP Sensor 1 and 2 Agree/Disagree parameter displays Agree, proceed to Step 29.

- If TP Sensor 1 and 2 Agree/Disagree parameter displays Disagree, replace the throttle body assembly.



29. Observe the engine control module (ECM) module DTC information. Are DTC P1516, P2101 and/or P2176 set?



- If DTC P1516, P2101 and/or P2176 are set, replace the throttle body.



- If DTC P1516, P2101 and/or P2176 are not set, proceed to Step 30.



30. Tighten the throttle body fasteners.



Tighten:



Tighten the fasteners to 10 Nm (89 lb in).



31. Install any remaining components that were removed during this procedure.



32. Verify the battery voltage is more than 12 volts but less than 16 volts before proceeding with ECM reprogramming.



33. During reprogramming, the battery voltage must be maintained within the proper range of 12-15 volts. Connect the approved Midtronics(R)



PSC 550 Battery Maintainer (SPS Programming Support Tool EL-49642) to the vehicle.



If the above recommended tool is not available, DO NOT connect a battery charger to the vehicle. Connect a fully charged 12V jumper or



booster pack that is disconnected from the AC voltage supply.



34. Use a Tech 2(R) or a multiple diagnostic interface (MDI) module for reprogramming. Ensure that either device is updated with the latest



available software version before performing the reprogramming event.



35. Reprogram the ECM using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibration available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the SPS



procedures in SI.



36. Perform the Throttle Learn Reset Procedure. Refer to Throttle/Idle Learn > Throttle Learn > Reset Procedure in SI.

This letter is intended to make you aware that some 2008-2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer; GMC Envoy; HUMMER H2; 2008-2010 Cadillac Escalade,



Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT; Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe; GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL; HUMMER

throttle position sensor may cause the engine to run rough and cause the malfunction indicator lamp and/or an Engine Reduced Power message to

Circuit Description



The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor has a 5 V reference circuit, a low reference circuit, and a signal circuit. The engine control module



(ECM) supplies 5 V to the MAP sensor on the 5 V reference circuit, and provides a ground for the low reference circuit. The MAP sensor provides



a voltage signal to the ECM on the signal circuit relative to the intake manifold pressure changes.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* DTC P0697 is not set.



* The engine is running.



* This DTC runs continuously within the enabling conditions.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



P0107



The ECM detects that the MAP sensor voltage is less than 0.20 V for more than 5 s.



P0108



The ECM detects that the MAP sensor voltage is more than 4.80 V for more than 5 s.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



DTCs P0107 and P0108 are Type B DTCs.



Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC



DTCs P0107 and P0108 are Type B DTCs.

* A current DTC clears when the malfunction is no longer present.



* A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold of 50, without a repeat of the malfunction.

* Use the DTC Descriptor list above to determine the module which is not communicating.



* If there are multiple non-communicating modules choose the one closest to the data link connector (DLC).

ground before replacing the module.

Note: If more than one module is not communicating use Data Communication Schematics (See: Powertrain Management/Computers and



Control Systems/Information Bus/Diagrams/Electrical Diagrams) to determine which module is closest to the DLC. Start diagnostics with that



module.



Terminal and connector identifiers will be different depending on the individual module being tested. Use Schematic Reference and Connector End



View Reference to determine which connector and terminal to access.



1. Using the DTC Descriptor and Diagnostic Aids, determine the module that is not communicating that should be tested.



2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector of the module that is not communicating.



3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the module ground circuits and ground.



瀚慖f greater than specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.



Note: Only the high speed GMLAN modules have a wired serial data wake up circuit. Refer to the module schematics to identify which



modules have a wake up circuit. If the module that is not communicating does not have a serial data wake up circuit, proceed to step 5.



4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the high speed GMLAN serial data wake up circuit OR the accessory wake up serial



data circuit and ground.
