Circuit/System Testing
Note:
* Refer to SIR Service Precautions (See: Restraints and Safety Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions/Technician Safety Information).
* When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion to the following requires repair or replacement of the
affected component/connector:
- The pretensioner
- The inflatable restraint module
- The SDM
- The inflatable restraint module wiring harness connector
- The SDM wiring harness connector
Note: The connector and connector position assurance (CPA) may seat independent of each other. Both the connector and CPA should seat
with an audible and/or tactile click. The CPA isolates the shorting-bars within the connector allowing the deployment circuit to operate
properly.
1. Verify that the appropriate inflator restraint module connector and the CPA are engaged.
瀚慖f the connector or CPA is not properly engaged, make the appropriate repair.
2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate inflator restraint module.
3. With the appropriate load tool adaptor, connect J 38715-A in place of the inflator restraint module.
4. Ignition ON, with a scan tool, verify DTC is set as current.
瀚慖f the DTC is not set or is set as history, cycle ignition OFF, disconnect the J 38715-A and the adapter, reconnect the harness connector
at the inflatable restraint module and cycle the ignition ON. If the DTC resets after reconnecting the module, replace the inflatable
restraint module.
5. Disconnect the harness connector at the SDM.
6. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the appropriate high control circuit terminal and ground.
* I/P module Stage 1 terminal 1 X1
* I/P module Stage 2 terminal 2 X2
* Driver roof rail module terminal A
* Passenger right roof rail module terminal A (RHD)
* Right roof rail module terminal B
* Left side impact module terminal 2
* Right side impact module terminal 2
* Driver seat belt pretensioner terminal 1
* Passenger seat belt pretensioner terminal 1
瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage.
7. Test for less than 1 V between the appropriate low control circuit terminal and ground.
* I/P module Stage 1 terminal 2 X1
* I/P module Stage 2 terminal 1 X2
