When combined with RENNTECH's stainless-steel long-tube headers and new, track-oriented sound/performance pipes, the RENNTECH software produces 548 peak horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. It should come as no surprise, then, that RENNTECH's first offering for the C63 was an effective ECU software upgrade (ECU1) to unleash the same "factory" 475 hp and 465 lb-ft (up from 451 and 443) as the CLK. At first glance we thought might have been a CLS-style 4-door coupe version of the current C-Class, but it is in reality, the next CLK. Rob and Raymond from TECHNICAR were also on hand to answer questions about electronics, nav systems, etc., and it seems like everyone had a pretty good time - we'll have to do it again soon! For the record, MB already offers twin-turbo V12's in their flagship 600 and 65 series AMG cars, as well as turbo-engined diesels (320CDi, etc.), but some people have already emailed us about this, worried that this announcement spelled doom for hot cars like the C63 AMG. Although all parties declined to comment on the reasons for the press conference, it is understood that the car makers will announce they are going to co-operate on developing technologies for small cars, next-generation models and commercial vehicles.

Of course, in this modern age of software encryption and electronic obstacles, that kind of "de-restricting" is easier said than done - which is why Feyhl is exactly the man you want to talk to when it's time to take your C63 to the next level. The standard drive is as usually front-wheel-drive, but now, for the first time, there will also be an AWD Sprinter. Their tiny home on wheels was designed on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter four-wheel-drive with a high roof and a 170-inch wheelbase. The AMG GT sits aggressively on a custom set of RENNtech 10 Super-Light 3-pc forged wheels, manufactured by ADV.1 Wheels. The RENNtech AMG GT Project Car is equipped with newly developed performance upgrades such as; ECU Upgrade, Coil-over Suspension, Downpipes with Sport Cats, and much more.

RENNTECH sharpens the C63's handling reflexes with a fully adjustable sport suspension and adjustable front and rear camber bushings that allow customers to "dial-in" ride height and shock damping while the camber bushings help maintain proper camber and alignment for maximum grip (RENNTECH considers these camber bushings a must-have item for serious performance drivers). With just the upgraded ECU software RENNtech gained up to 100 HP and 102 LB-FT over stock, bringing the maximum power output up to 584 HP and 642 LB-FT. Much more than a (relatively) simple de-restriction, this flavor of RENNTECH's software optimizes every aspect of engine performance, building massive amounts of torque across the low-to-mid rpm range and boosting the C63's top speed to 187 mph. A glimpse of "top secret" work on some SLR McLaren components and a CLK63 Black Series in the "no photos" area, the dyno test area, and computer-aided machining equipment areas were but a few of the many unique things participants observed during their tour.
