2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 Wagon Review
An eventful Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park today saw Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg bring their MERCEDES GP PETRONAS cars home in fourth and fifth places, an improvement of one position on their respective grid placings. The pair had a fairly quiet race with Michael moving up to fourth briefly after a first lap battle with Jenson Button but he was unable to hold the position that he took in turn one. Michael made his only pit stop of the race on lap 14 with Nico following one lap later where a quick in-lap and excellent work from the pit crew kept him ahead of the chasing Robert Kubica. Rain threatened in the middle of the race but only a few light spots eventually fell around the circuit. The collision of the two Red Bulls on lap 40 promoted Michael to fourth place and Nico to fifth position where they remained until the chequered flag.
鈥淢y race started as I had hoped when I was able to catch Jenson right at the start. 鈥淚 am reasonably happy with fifth place today although it was an uneventful race for me. I was slightly faster than Michael for much of the race but it was not possible to overtake and I had to be careful as Robert was pushing hard behind me. 鈥淎 solid performance today in which we achieved the potential of the car with both drivers. We had a purposefully quiet early part of race as we were unable to challenge the leading group and therefore decided to save our tyres for the second half. Michael, Nico and the team did an extremely good job with the car that we had and once again our pit stops were very impressive. Compliments to them all today. 鈥淔ourth and fifth positions for Michael and Nico were the best results we could achieve today as our pace was only ok in the last third of the race. We are aware that we need further improvements and we definitely will get them.
2,300 Premium Plus package which adds nifty stuff like active park assist, foot-activated rear tailgate (making the C300 wagon even easier to load), 360-degree camera and a few other bells and whistles. 875 satellite radio option we had. Now, while the tech on offer is robust, I have a little more trouble with the way it鈥檚 all accessed. 1,000 Burmester audio system on our car. Too bad; the speakers this comes equipped with are as glorious to look at as they are to listen to, and do well to jive with the rest of the aluminum trim found throughout the cabin. Of course, when driving you鈥檙e supposed to be focusing on the road ahead and not the door tweeter鈥檚 build quality, right? Of course you are. Especially in a wagon, lest you miss the other aspect of ownership that wagons do so well: the drive. In this light, the C300 doesn鈥檛 disappoint. A single engine is available in Canada: a turbo 2.0L inline-4, good for 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, the latter reaching its peak at a lowly, lowly and almost idle-level 1,300 RPM. Individual, the latter allowing you to mix n鈥?match your transmission and chassis settings to your preferred choice. I spent most of my time in Sport mode, actually, reserving Eco for real stop-n-go stuff around town. 鈥? and realize how the station wagon - especially a proper, euro-tuned version like this - is 100% a viable alternative to those pesky crossovers that continue to multiply like rabbits.
C 200 BlueTec diesel, C 250 BlueTec diesel and C 300 BlueTech hybrid versions join the range later in the year. April 2016 - Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic 3.0-litre V6 petrol added to the range, with deliveries due in September. 4Matic also made available on C 200 d, C 220 d and C 250 d diesels (which have been rebadged from BlueTec). New SE Executive trim also added to the line-up. May 2018 - Facelifted C-Class launched with refreshed exterior styling (tweaks to the bumpers and lights) and upgraded interior. The third-generation C-Class, like the one that came before it, was lauded as a 鈥榤iniature S-Class鈥? Indeed, it came loaded with premium trim, impressive tech and great style, all in a smaller package. It also had a monstrous rip-snorting 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine in the C 63 AMG. Estate and Coupe versions were available, although the latter only came after the 2011 facelift of the model. This brought new lights with LED accents front and rear, plus an updated cabin. The model was sent off in style, with the widened and be-winged C 63 AMG Black Series. Development for the second-generation C-Class was a long process. Design work began in 1994 and, by the time it was approved, patented, and the car tested and launched, it was 2000. The more curvaceous design reflected the direction taken by the E-Class, S-Class and CL. Inside it was very luxurious by comparison with rivals, although it was pricey and there were some questions over quality. The second C-Class also got a big AMG V8, in the short-lived C 55 AMG of 2004. Before the mid-life update to the C-Class, the biggest and best you could get was the V6-engined C 32 AMG. The first C-Class of 1993 had seriously big shoes to fill.
