Front Seat Armrest Rattle / Free Play



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The left or right front seat armrest may rattle or have free play, giving the impression that the armrest is loose. This may be caused by insufficient



clamping of the armrest.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to modify both front seat armrests.

Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) for any required special tools

NOTE:



Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only.



Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.



DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.



Normal warranty policy and procedures apply.



REPAIR PROCEDURE



MODIFY THE FRONT SEAT ARM RESTS



1. Move the left-front seat forward to provide clearance between the center console and armrest pivot.



2. Remove the keys from the ignition.

3. Remove the armrest plug. (Figure 1)



4. Using a T30 Torx driver, remove the armrest retaining screw. (Figure 2)



5. Remove the washer. (Figure 2)



6. Rotate the armrest upwards to approximately a 450 angle. (Figure 3)



7. Pull the armrest away from the seat.

8. Inspect the inner and outer surfaces of the armrest mounting areas for cleanliness and damage. (Figure 4)



Clean as necessary.



9. Install the armrest to the seat.



NOTE:



Ensure the washers are fully located in the recess and do not move when installing the bolt.



10. Install the two wavy washers (AWR1 137) and Torx retaining screw into the recess. (Figure 5)



^ Tighten the screw to 12Nm (8.85 lbf ft).



11. Rotate the armrest up and down several times to verify operation.



NOTE:



Ensure the locating tang is correctly located in the armrest.

12. Install the armrest plug. (Figure 6)



13. Repeat steps 1 - 12 on the right-front seat armrest.
