Conditions for Clearing the DTC

P0716 and P0717 are Type A DTCs.

Diagnostic Aids

Damage or misalignment of the 4-5-6 clutch and 3-5-R clutch housing reluctor machined teeth surface may cause a speed sensor malfunction.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the transmission ISS/OSS Supply Voltage test status parameter displays OK.

2. Engine idling in Park, observe the scan tool Transmission ISS parameter while varying the engine speed. The Transmission ISS parameter

should change with the engine speed and not drop out.

3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the

conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

Note: You must perform the Circuit/System Verification first.

1. Ignition OFF, remove the control valve body cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement (See: Transmission and

Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Valve Body/Service and Repair/6T70/6T75 - Automatic Transmission/Control Valve Body

Cover Replacement).

2. Connect the TCM harness connector.

3. Disconnect the ISS wiring harness connector X3 from the control solenoid valve assembly.

4. Ignition ON, test for 8.3-9.3 volts between the ISS voltage circuit terminal A, on the TCM assembly, and ground.

瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the control solenoid valve assembly. Refer to Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control

Module Assembly Replacement (See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Actuators and Solenoids - Transmission

and Drivetrain/Actuators and Solenoids - A/T/Shift Solenoid/Service and Repair).

5. Perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Input Shaft Speed/Output Shaft Speed Input Test (See:

Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General

Diagnostics/6T70/6T75 - Automatic Transmission/Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Input Shaft

Speed/Output Shaft Speed Input Test).

6. Inspect the reluctor for damage or misalignment. Repair or replace as necessary.

7. If all of the above test normal, replace the input speed sensor.
