Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition OFF, open the hood to disable the Auto-Stop function. Refer to Hybrid Modes of Operation Description ( See: Hybrid Drive

Systems/Description and Operation/Hybrid Modes of Operation).

2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool hood position parameter displays Open.

Note: Correct any engine controls and communication DTCs before diagnosing TCM DTCs.

3. DTC P0700 is an informational DTC. If there are no engine controls or communication DTCs, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List -

Vehicle (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions/Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle) for diagnosis of TCM DTCs.

4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the

conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) monitors the brake pedal position sensor. When the brake pedal is applied, the BCM detects a predetermined

voltage signal. The BCM sends a serial data message to the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) indicating the status

of the stop lamps.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The engine is ON.
