Trumbull Mercedes-Benz C-Class Looks Hot In 2019
Summer is just around the corner and I can't wait! The line-up looks hotter than ever, especially the C63 AMG, and I can't wait for their release. While most of the C-Class line-up is getting a new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter engine, the C63 AMG will keep the 6.2-liter V8 which produces 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. What will change underneath the hood is the vehicle's transmission. The new speedster will feature a seven-speed Speedshift Plus MCT automatic transmission, which trades a conventional torque converter for a clutch pack. The new transmission, first seen in the SL63 and now spreading throughout the lineup, allows the driver to choose from four different driving modes and includes AMG's Race Start launch-control function. I hope the transmission will become more readily available on other models from the local Trumbull Mercedes dealers. In addition the changed transmission, the C63 AMG has a refined suspension.
More negative camber has been dialed in, and a larger-diameter rear anti-roll bar has been fitted. New spring and damper rates are supposed to improve dynamics while reducing tire noise and vibration. Both of these come as welcome news to me! One package that I really love is the Development Package. The package bumps horsepower to 481 and top speeds to 174 miles per hour (as compared to 155 miles per hour without the package). The package is visually differentiated by a carbon-fiber trunk lid spoiler and two-piece front brake rotors with red calipers all around. The interior of the C-Class models and C63 AMG model is top of the line. Drivers will find a reworked dash with a 5.8" central display running a new interface and a crisp 4.5" color display in the gauge pod. There's also a new multifunction steering wheel and new standard seat coverings which are made from a man-made fiber called Dinamica. Buyers can upgrade to leather and choose from four solid-colors or three great-looking two-tone seats.
My personal favorite is the red and black color scheme. All of the C-Class models, including the C63 AMG will be fitted with Mercedes-Benz's Attention Assist. This safety system is a drowsiness detection system and will function by monitoring the driver's fatigue level and drowsiness based on driving inputs. It issues a visual and audible alarm to alert the driver if she is too drowsy to continue driving safely. In a car as exciting as the C63 AMG, however, I have to wonder how anyone could become drowsy. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry! Other safety features include optional Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Park Assist with Parktronic, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Assist. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and the rest of the 2012 Trumbull Mercedes-Benz C-Class line-up will go on sale this fall. So be ready - just when you think things are starting to cool down, the C63 will arrive to heat things right back up. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to visit my favorite Trumbull Mercedes dealers when this happens!
I鈥檓 sure the all-wheel drive is good for the winter, but it definitely takes away from the sportiness. Steering was relatively direct and in the few fast corners I took it was easy to aim and place the tires. I did worry a bit about the big rims and low-profile tires, but MB seemed to do a good job smoothing out the bumps with the medium suspension setting. If the revs are kept high, I could see having some fun on the back roads. Inside, the seats are supportive and look cool with the faux suede inserts. They鈥檙e nicely bolstered as well. Back support was good, and once I figured out which functions were included in the entertainment system, it was easy to operate. I was surprised that it had the navigation button, even though the car doesn鈥檛 have that option. When you press it, the screen reads: no navigation. You鈥檇 think they would just black that button out or something. It was easy to hook up and navigate the iPod though, something not all manufacturers do well. The C-class has three available engines, excluding the AMG, while the BMW has only two. 44k, so they鈥檙e all in the same bracket. For enthusiasts I think the 3-series is the way to go, for the undecided the A4 can be fun, and those who like a bit more luxury and a bit less sport the C-class is probably the best option.
