Four-Zone Air Conditioning Pipe Locating Stud Broken



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The air conditioning (A/C) system may be inoperative. This may be caused by the four-zone rear suction pipe front bulkhead joint being



disconnected due to a broken locating stud, causing a refrigerant leak.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the evaporator to intermediate pipe.

LR021640 A/C Pipe - Evaporator to compressor Qty: 1

Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) for any required special tools

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

NOTE:



Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows:



GTR Home > NAS > LM - Range Rover> Service Information > 2010 > Workshop Manual



1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 412-00, Climate Control System - General Information, and recover the A/C system.



2. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 412-01, Air Distribution and Filtering (80.15.62), and remove the plenum chamber.



3. Disconnect the A/C pipe. (Figure 1) Remove the Torx bolt.



4. Disconnect the A/C hose. (Figure 2) Remove the nut.



5. Release the bracket. (Figure 3) Remove the nut.

6. Remove the A/C pipe. (Figure 4)



Remove the Torx bolt.



7. Remove the bracket from the A/C pipe. (Figure 5)



CAUTION:



Ensure the union is correctly aligned. Failure to do so may result in damage to the vehicle.



8. Install the bracket on to the new A/C pipe. (Figure 5)



9. Install the A/C pipe. (Figure 4)



^ Tighten the Torx bolt to 18 Nm (13.25 lbf ft).



CAUTION:



Ensure the union is correctly aligned. Failure to do so may result in damage to the vehicle.



10. Connect the A/C pipe. (Figure 3)



^ Tighten the nut to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf ft).



11. Secure the bracket. (Figure 2)



^ Tighten the nut to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf ft).



12. Connect the A/C hose. (Figure 1)

Tighten the nut to 9 Nm (6.6 lbf ft).



13. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 412-01, Air Distribution and Filtering (80.15.62) and install the plenum chamber.



14. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 412-00, Climate Control System - General Information, and evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
