The 2025 Ram 1500 is set to undergo a major redesign, and one of the most significant changes will be the elimination of the Hemi V-8 engines from the lineup. According to sources familiar with the company's plans, Ram will replace the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter V-8s with a new turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 engine that will offer similar performance and better fuel efficiency.
The new V-6 engine will be paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that will provide additional torque and smooth out the start-stop function. The engine will also feature cylinder deactivation technology that will shut off half of the cylinders under light load conditions, further improving gas mileage. The new engine is expected to produce around 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, which is comparable to the current Hemi V-8s.
The decision to drop the Hemi V-8s is part of Ram's strategy to meet the stricter emissions and fuel economy standards that will take effect in the next few years. The company also plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Ram 1500, as well as an all-electric model in the future. The Ram 1500 will continue to offer a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine as an option for customers who prefer diesel power.
The 2025 Ram 1500 will also feature a new exterior design that will incorporate some elements from the Ram TRX, such as the hood scoop, the wider fenders, and the LED headlights. The interior will be updated with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital gauge cluster, and more advanced driver assistance features.
One of the most noticeable aspects of the new design will be the grille, which will have a more aggressive and angular shape than the current model. The grille will also have different patterns depending on the trim level, such as honeycomb, mesh, or horizontal bars. The bumper will also have larger air intakes and fog lights, as well as tow hooks for some models.
The side profile of the new Ram 1500 will have a more streamlined and aerodynamic look, with less chrome and more body-colored accents. The wheel arches will be more pronounced and flared, giving the truck a muscular stance. The wheels will range from 18 to 22 inches in size, and will have various designs and finishes.
The rear of the new Ram 1500 will have a redesigned tailgate that will have a multifunctional feature that can open in different ways, such as swinging out or folding down. The tailgate will also have an integrated spoiler that will improve airflow and reduce drag. The taillights will have a C-shaped LED signature that will match the headlights.
The 2025 Ram 1500 is expected to debut in late 2024 or early 2025, and will compete with other full-size pickups such as the Ford F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado, and the Toyota Tundra. The pricing and availability details have not been announced yet, but we expect them to be similar to the current model, which starts at $32,795.
