For some, the Macan is just an Audi Q5 with a slightly more powerful engine. However, there is more to it than just that. Porsche reworked the entire running gear and the car definitely looks more impressive than its Audi counterpart. In order to remain one of the fastest cars in its class, it looks like an update might be on its way. This is rather unusual, especially since the current Macan has been around since 2014. However, the change would allow Porsche to further refine the design and give the car more power and a better chassis. In fact we are pretty sure the 2019 Porsche Macan will use VW鈥檚 all new MLB Evo platform. With that, the car should also receive new engines and a far more capable running gear. The end result should be one of the fastest crossovers on the market. As we unofficially found out, Porsche is working hard to test the electric drive model.
Mission E should be ready by 2019. This car manufacturer has developed a platform for its electric-powered vehicles, which it will share with models from the Volkswagen family. The new J1 Platform should also get Macan on an electric drive. This is no longer a question of 鈥渨hether it will be鈥?but 鈥渨hen鈥?a new crossover arrives. Porsche Cars North America chief executive officer Klaus Zellmer said that Porsche invests over 3 billion euros in vehicle electrification. In this regard, Electric Macan is starting its life. Price is rapidly growing with options .. It is safe to assume the new Macan will be lighter and more structurally sound. This alone should be well worth the upgrade over its predecessor which some complained that it was a bit too soft. The new Macan will also feature larger brakes and more than likely a differently tuned suspension. From the looks of it, the higher end versions of the car will come with air-ride as standard.
This will give the driver the ability to choose the ride height and the behavior of the car without affecting its handling. So far Porsche hasn鈥檛 said a word about the date they will release the 2019 Porsche Macan. Just like with most of their other cars, the Macan is not going to change all that much. In fact, from what we can see from the development prototype, it looks like the future model will be mostly identical when it comes to the profile to the new Q5. However, the car will get a front end more similar to that of the new Cayenne. We can expect larger intakes and a far more aggressive set of headlights. The rear of the car will also feature a larger roof spoiler as well as new tail lights. Unfortunately this is the biggest unknown factor about the new Macan. Even so, it is safe to assume the 2019 Porsche Macan will feature heavy influences from both the new Panamera and from the new Cayenne. We can expect a far larger infotainment screen on the dashboard as well as a new instrument cluster.
The car will likely feature fewer physical buttons than before in order to be able to offer a more minimalist experience for the driver and its passengers. We only hope Porsche will still maintain the usability at least on the same level with that of the Q5 which is currently the leader of its class. At this point it looks like the 2019 Porsche Macan will retain the 2.0 liter turbo-four as its base engine. With around 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque this should be enough for most buyers. However, for those looking for more, Porsche will also offer two additional engines. There will be the 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 which will replace the old 3.0 liter unit from the S and the GTS. This should be able to provide up to 375 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque which is actually considerably more than its predecessor. The higher end versions of the car, the Turbo and Turbo S, will use Porsche鈥檚 all new 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6.
