2019 Macan S Delayed Until Nov 2019?

A few weeks ago, I placed an order with PCO for a 2019 Macan S with an expected July delivery. A few days later I read on-line that the 2019s were being delayed until Nov/Dec due to EPA certification problems. I immediately emailed my sales rep, Nik Djordjevic, and asked if this was true. It was Sunday and he responded immediately and said that he would check on Monday and let me know. Sure enough, the delay rumours were real, but I couldnt wait until November as I had a lease that was ending. Nik understood and refunded my deposit without delay. I spent the next two weeks looking at alternate vehicles and at lease busters trying to find something that interested me. I kept coming back to the Macan, so I enquired about the remaining 2018s and settled on a low option base Macan that Nik had on the lot. I figured that I could drive it for a year until the 2019s were in and then give it to my wife to use for the remaining 2 years of the lease. It was ready to be picked up yesterday and Nik, Patricia and Matthew handled the delivery perfectly.

The truck was spotless and the base motor really is pretty peppy for a DD. I drove it 11 kms home and parked it in the garage as I had planned to drive our old MDX until the weather was better. Later that night, I was on Rennlist and the Macan Forum and guys started posting that they had heard that Porsche had revised the 2019 Macan delivery schedule back to the original May timeframe. I couldnt believe it! Ill admit that I was very disappointed, but PCO wasnt at fault, so I decided to just suck it up and keep to the original plan. Just after lunch my cell rang and it was Nik. He said that he had some news and I responded that I already knew. I told him that I was disappointed, but knew that it wasnt their fault. He then said, 聭how would you feel if we undid the deal?

聰. I honestly couldnt believe that they would consider that. I ended up taking the base Macan back last night and got a full refund that I put towards the S that I originally wanted! Many sincere thanks to Nik and the management at PCO. THAT is how you take care of customers. I am a difficult guy to please with extremely high expectations with respect to customer service and they nailed it. Glad it worked out. The 2019 changes are generically called a facelift, but that鈥檚 too broad a term. The changes Porsche made would be a redesign if it was most other manufacturers. The new computer system does a lot more, I think, than the old computer system did. The new computer system does a lot more, I think, than the old computer system did. Power plants all switch to Audi designs to match the transmission previous used. Porsche tweets via software. PCM is a bigger screen to match the other vehicles, but really just new screen layout and most likely faster processors. Only levels the 718s with the small screen PCM.

The redesign should bring the use of aluminum in the body. I went to a dealership yesterday (Arlington, VA) and was told that deliveries won't be till November. It's possible that they're out of the loop---anyone else hearing anything more on delivery timing? They are out of the loop. As of April 9th, Macan/S still on for May/first week or June. That's only if EPA (and CARB in 14 states) certifications are completed. There is no sign that they are certified/approved yet for release. I am doubtful that Porsche is "in the know" about expected certification. There is no indication that any 2019 Porsche E-Hybrids or any 2019 Macans have been approved by EPA yet, though their website hasn't yet been updated with March approvals.

Lots of 2019 base Macans are sitting in US ports in limbo right now. I just got confirmed Euro delivery of my S for 2 July in Stuttgart. They were waiting to confirm so all should be good. I have negotiated a deal on a dealer ordered base Macan. I have negotiated a deal on a dealer ordered base Macan. What state is your dealership located in? May 24 is the nationwide US release date, as of now; no dealership can release base Macans to buyers until that date, but as you note, the date can change. I think the big factor is EPA certification (and CARB certification after that for CARB states). EPA has curiously not updated their website yet for March approvals, well over halfway through April; the February approvals were posted in early March. My dealer is in Tennessee. EPA posted an updated certification list today. I see the 2019 Macan S on the list, but not the base Macan.
