1. Engine idling at normal operating temperature, verify the scan tool TCM Power up Temperature parameter is between -59 and +165掳C (-74
and +329掳F).
2. Operate the vehicle at 64 km/h (40 mph) for 10 minutes. Monitor the TCM Temperature, TCM Power up Temperature, and the Trans. Fluid
Temp. parameters with a scan tool. The TCM Temperature and the Trans. Fluid Temp. parameters should be within 20掳C (36掳F) of each
other, and the TCM Temperature and TCM Power up Temperature parameters should be within 10掳C (18掳F) of each other.
瀚慖f the TCM Temperature and TCM Power up Temperature parameters are not within 10掳C (18掳F), or the TCM Power up Temperature
and Trans. Fluid Temp. parameters are not within 20掳C (36掳F), replace the control solenoid valve assembly.
3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the
conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Repair Instructions
Note:
* Perform the Service Fast Learn Adapts (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning) following all transmission related repairs
* Before replacing the TCM, perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection (See: Transmission
and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/6T70/6T75 - Automatic
Transmission/Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection).
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

DTC Descriptors
DTC P0641
- 5 V Reference 1 Circuit
DTC P0651
- 5 V Reference 2 Circuit
DTC P0697
- 5 V Reference 3 Circuit
DTC P06A3
- 5 V Reference 4 Circuit
Circuit/System Description
The engine control module (ECM) has 4 5 V reference circuits. The ECM provides the 5 V reference to various sensors. Each reference circuit
provides a 5 V reference for more than one sensor. An open, short to ground, or short voltage on one of the 5 V reference circuits can affect all the
components connected to that 5 V reference circuit. The ECM monitors the voltage on the 5 V reference circuits.
Conditions for Running the DTC
DTCs P0641, P0651, P0697, P06A3 run continuously when the ignition is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The 5 V reference circuit voltage is greater or less than a predetermined threshold.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
