Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter, that when the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switches Menu,

Up, Down Set/Clr are pressed and released the scan tool parameter toggles between Menu, Up, Down, Clear and Inactive.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.

2. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.

瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal replace the P16 Instrument

Cluster.

3. Test for B+ between the signal circuit terminal 12 and ground.

瀚慖f less than the specified value, test the signal for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the P16

Instrument Cluster.

4. Install a 5 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver

Information Center Switch parameter displays 0 V.

瀚慖f not the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the P16 Instrument

Cluster.

5. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.

Component Testing

Static Test

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.

2. Test for 8.8-9.0k ohm between the signal terminal 12 X2 and the low reference circuit terminal 6 X2.

瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.

3. Test for 550-650 ohm between the signal terminal 12 X2 and the low reference circuit terminal 6 X2 while pressing the Up switch.

瀚慖f not within the specified value, replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.

4. Test for 1.5-1.7k ohm between the signal terminal 12 X2 and the low reference circuit terminal 6 X2 while pressing the Down switch.

瀚慖f not within the specified value, replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.
