The ECM controls the Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet by suppling a 12 V pulse width modulated (PWM) signal. The ECM supplies a ground

to the low reference circuit.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* DTC P0010, P0016, P0335, P0336, P0340, or P0341 is not set.

* The engine is running.

* The system voltage is between 11-18 V.

* The CMP actuator is enabled and commanded greater than 0 degrees.

* The power take off (PTO) is not active - If equipped.

* The desired camshaft position does not vary greater than 7.5 degrees for 2 s.

* DTC P0011 runs continuously when the above conditions are met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects the difference between the desired camshaft position angle and the actual camshaft position angle is greater than 8 degrees for 20

s.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC P0011 is a Type B DTC.

* The CMP actuator is commanded to the park position.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P0011 is a Type B DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

* The engine oil condition has a major impact on the camshaft actuator system.

* A low oil level condition may set this DTC. The engine may require an oil change. Inquire with the customer when the last oil change was

performed. You may also monitor the scan tool Engine Oil Life parameter. Advise the customer an oil change may be required.

* Inspect the engine for any recent engine mechanical repairs. An incorrectly installed camshaft, camshaft actuator, or timing chain can cause

this DTC to set.
