Verify that DTC B008A or B008B is not set.

If any of the DTCs are set, program the serial data gateway module. If any of the DTCs reset, replace the serial data gateway module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

DTC B008A or B008B

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Diagnostic System

Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an

overview of the diagnostic approach.

DTC Descriptor

DTC B008A 00

- High Voltage Crash Impact Detection Sensor 2

DTC B008B 00

- High Voltage Crash Impact Detection Sensor 3

Circuit/System Description

The high voltage circuit impact detector sensor utilizes a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. The high voltage circuit impact detector sensor modulates

current on the circuit interface to send ID, state of health, and deployment commands to the serial data gateway module. The serial data gateway

module serves as a power source and a ground for the high voltage circuit impact detector sensor. When the ignition is turned ON and input power

from the serial data gateway module is first detected, the high voltage circuit impact detector sensor responds by performing internal diagnostics

and sending an ID to the serial data gateway module. The high voltage circuit impact detector sensor continually communicates status messages to

the serial data gateway module. Some applications use multiple high voltage circuit impact detector sensors.

This vehicle does not use crash sensor 2 or 3. These DTCs can only set if the incorrect software is installed in the serial data gateway module.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The ignition is ON.

* The battery voltage is 7.5-18 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B008A 00 or B008B 00

Sensor 2 or 3 is reporting a state-of-health message, but the serial data gateway module is not calibrated to use sensor 2 or 3.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* A current DTC clears when the malfunction is no longer present.

* The DIC message turns OFF when the DTC passes.

* A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold of 50, without a repeat of the malfunction.

Circuit/System Verification

Verify that DTC B008A or B008B is not set.
