In many cases, the rear lid (luggage compartment) is the cause for rattling noises. The lid moves in the lock due to incorrectly adjusted stops.

Repair:

Check adjustment of the stops in the lid. The rattling noise can also be produced with the vehicle stationary by briefly pressing on the rear edge of

the lid (arrow a, figure 28) several times.

Caution!

Exerting too much pressure on the rear lid will deform it. The stops in the lid (arrow b, figure 28) must be gradually and evenly unscrewed at

the left and right sides until the rattling noise can no longer be produced.
