鈥淨ualifying is an intense experience and, as drivers, we all put a huge amount of pressure on ourselves, but it鈥檚 probably the part of the race weekend I most enjoy. Drivers may not make 鈥渕ore than one change of direction to defend a position鈥?and, when moving back onto the racing line, must leave racing room - 鈥渁t least one car width鈥?- between their car and the edge of the track. In order for this comparison to make sense then, we must split it into two, for the super-hatches need to be both useful as a daily vehicle battling city traffic and even better for those early morning drives up a twisty mountain road before the men in the blue have awoken. I always love the atmosphere in Melbourne; it鈥檚 a great city and the fans are fantastic. Nico and Michael are both excited about the new season and highly motivated, while our team members back at base in Brackley and Brixworth and on track are working extremely hard to deliver both performance and reliability at the opening race.



鈥淔rom P3 Michael did not have the best start but was still in a top five slot when he was spun around during the first lap and passed the start and finish line in P16. Top jewelry stores across town have various outlets that are catering to the current demand patterns. The SL 63 AMG interior is likewise inspired by the SLS AMG and offers a feast for all the senses: the four air vents styled like jet engines, the E-SELECT lever and the AMG DRIVE UNIT are all reminiscent of the supercar's styling. The C450 AMG shares a few pieces of hardware with its big brother AMG sibling, including the front axle, electromechanical steering, and upgraded brake setup (though you can't get carbon ceramic stoppers like you can in the C63 S). 鈥淎nyway, the most important thing is that we鈥檙e on the front row. The openings emphasize the vehicle's width, as does the trim strips in matte silver chrome - which reflects the design of the front skirt and frames the AMG sports exhaust system. MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS topped the tables for average daily mileage in pre-season testing, completing an average of 472 km per official test day with the F1 W03.



This brings the C 200 offering to three flavours - Avantgarde, AMG Line and Exclusive - and it鈥檚 available for the first time in the sporty AMG Line. But this will not be done from one race to another, it will take some time, and we need to give it that time. When it does, you need to determine why it stalled on you. 鈥?Maximum race time: Art. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the 1.4L cranks out 140 hp (103 kW) and produces a maximum torque of 200 Nm while the 1.7L turbo-diesel engine will deliver a power output of 130 hp (96 kW), and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. In the Sport (S) and Manual (M) modes the ECO stop/start function is deactivated and the engine-transmission combination displays far greater agility. 鈥淭omorrow, there鈥檚 a long haul down to Turn One, but I鈥檒l be making sure to get a good launch and stay ahead cleanly. 鈥淚 was pretty happy with my quick lap but it鈥檒l be a long, hot afternoon tomorrow so I鈥檒l be working hard to ensure I鈥檓 properly prepared and hydrated for the race. When traveling on the road, use one of the custom fold-away lap tables to work, spread out documents, use your laptop, or play some cards when traveling between offices or from city to city.



The outstandingly clear layout of the body and the good all-round visibility, combined with the raised seating position, increases the vehicle鈥檚 suitability for everyday on-road use and ensures relaxed driving even in dense city traffic. The body is well formed and has held up nicely for the most part. We aim to show that we have taken this step forward as the first part of a continuous process of improvement. This section of the rules is over ten times longer than it was 12 months ago: in 2011, the same regulations were totalled just 89 words, a reflection of the complexity of the 鈥榖lown diffuser鈥?systems the new regulations aim to outlaw. As soon as the driver touches the accelerator pedal, the engine computer selects the piston that is in the best position for first ignition, and the direct fuel injection and multi-spark systems work with a starter motor to seamlessly re-start the engine. That all comes to an end when the driver stops the futuristic crossover SUV and asks the passenger, the source of the noise, to exit. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a very disappointing end to what had been such a positive weekend here in Malaysia. 鈥淔rom where I started the race, it鈥檚 a real shame to grab just one point at the end today, and of course I would have wished for a better finish for our team after their hard work.



It鈥檚 clear from today that there is still a lot of work for us to do to take our pace from qualifying into the race, and I am sure the guys are already thinking very hard about finding a solution. This will have the effect of putting the field in position order at every restart and leaving all cars free to race, rather than the leaders having to pass backmarkers, thus improving the racing - in 2011 in Singapore, after the Safety Car period, the presence of backmarkers allowed Sebastian Vettel to build a nine-second lead over second-placed Jenson Button in a single lap! The new CLS also set benchmarks in the field of safety. During winter testing, we completed lots of miles and built up a really complete set of data, which should put us in a good position for the first race and to develop the car even further in the right direction.
