1969 Ford Mustang

1969 Ford Mustang

In 1969, Ford introduced a limited production model to the Mustang line. The Boss 429 was the most expensive and most powerful Mustang ever produced to that time. The 1969 Ford Mustang 428 Cobra Jet Coupe was offered for sale at the 2006 RM Auction held in Monterey, California. This car is powered by a 428 cubic-inch engine with 735 cfm 4-V Holley, R-Code. The transmission is a C-6 with Detroit Locker. The Mach 1 was a new model for 1969 nearly five years into the iconic Pony Car's lifecycle and was the first Ford-development which didn't involve Carroll Shelby. In 1969, some 72,458 Mach 1s were sold. There were 299,036 examples of the 1969 Mustang. 131,819 were non-Shelby Sportsroof cars. Of those, 10,130 were built with the 428-4V Ram Air engine. 5,853 of those came with 4-speeed manual transmissions. Ford introduced the Mach 1 in 1969, which took over as the top performance production Mustang.

In the late 1960s, Ford developed a new 429 cubic-inch V8. In 1969 the muscle car wars were in full swing. A wide variety of performance enhancements were available from nearly all of the manufacturers. This Ford Mustang was one of three Boss 302s built by Kar Kraft and prepared by Shelby for the 1969 Trans-Am season. This was the second of three examples constructed. Tasca Ford, known for their involvement with Ford Performance during the 1960s, was also involved with the Trans Am road race series. This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 Cobra Jet 428 is finished in Candy Apple Red with a white interior. It has a numbers matching 'R' Code Ram Air engine, a shaker hood, Top Loader 4 speed transmission, and an upgraded 3.91 Drag Pack rear axle. In the late 1960's the horsepower wars were in full swing. With Chrysler offering their Hemi-head 426, Ford was clearly outgunned on the NASCAR race tracks. This Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback was given a three-year nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration. It has a professionally built R-Code 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V-8 engine mated to a four-speed transmission. This car was raced by Mike Pustelny in NHRA Super Stock class during the 1970s and 1980s. The Mustang is a multiple record-holder in the NHRA Super Stock SS/J class.

It will recognize you by your phone if you鈥檙e using Phone as a key tech or by the key fob. Furthermore, SYNC will be able to understand natural language commands like 鈥淚鈥檓 cold鈥?or 鈥渇ind me a coffee shop along my route鈥?and is activated by the passphrase 鈥淥k Ford鈥? The Mach-E will also benefit from bumper to bumper over-the-air updates and will get better over time as new features get introduced. Standard with every Mustang Mach-E is a mobile charger that plugs into either a standard 120 V outlet or a more powerful 240 V outlet like the one your clothes dryer is hooked up to. On 120 V you get about 5 km of range an hour, jumping significantly to 35 km an hour on a 240 V plug. Or you can get the optional Ford Connected charging station installed at your home. It鈥檚 a faster 48-amp charger capable of adding up to 51 km of range an hour. Ford will also give you access to the largest charging network in North America through Ford Pass boasting over 12,000 stations, which is over 35,000 plugs including DC fast chargers.

The DC fast chargers will charge the Mach-E at a max rate of 150 kW adding about 76 km in just 10 minutes. Standard range Mach-Es can go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in 38 minutes. There鈥檚 Whisper, Engage, and Unbridled. Each mode will alter power delivery and response, steering feel, lighting, sound, and graphical animations. Whisper is the calm and serene experience, Engage turns up the wick for a sporty, dynamic drive, and Unbridled as the name suggests unleashes all the performance the Mach-E has to offer. They鈥檝e even tuned the whine of the electric motor drawing inspiration from movies like Blade Runner and even Formula-E. We were taken for short rides in a mid-range Mach-E premium, and I can鈥檛 really say if I noticed too much of what they were talking about. If you鈥檝e driven an EV before the sound here isn鈥檛 all that different but you do a hear a slight warble in the background that gets deeper with speed.
