system status is communicated from the drive motor generator battery control module to the hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM) through

serial data. The hybrid powertrain control module is the host controller for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* DTC P0A1F is not set.

* The ignition is ON.

* The 12 V battery voltage is 9-18 V.

* Minimum hybrid battery temperature is greater than -7掳C (19.4掳F).

* Hybrid battery discharge current is greater than 0.2 A.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The drive motor generator battery control module detects greater than a 1.5 V difference between any two hybrid battery voltage measurements for

3 seconds. However, if any DTCs P0B3C-P0B9D are set, the corresponding battery voltage measurement is ignored by this DTC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC P0BBD is a type B DTC.

* The drive motor generator battery control module sends a message to the hybrid powertrain control module to reduce the power use limit to

3000 watts.

* The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* DTC P0BBD is a type B DTC.

* The DTC will pass when the voltage of all hybrid batteries are within 1 V of each other.

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Hybrid Battery 1-20 parameters. Each reading should be between 10-19 V, and all readings should be within 1.5

V of each other.
