Circuit/System Verification

1. Review the Failure Records when the DTC set.

瀚慖f the engine coolant temperature (ECT) was above 125掳C (257掳F) when the DTC set, go to Symptoms - Engine Cooling (See: Engine,

Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Testing and Inspection/Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures/Symptoms - Engine Cooling) and

correct that concern first.

2. Perform the Transmission Fluid Cooler Flushing and Flow Test (J 45096) (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic

Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/Transmission

Fluid Cooler Flushing and Flow Test (J 45096)).

Circuit/System Testing

1. Review the Failure Records when the DTC set.

2. Compare the MTS values for each drive motor generator.

瀚慖f both MTS values were not at or near 200掳C (392掳F), test the MTS signal circuit for a low resistance to ground condition.

瀚慖f the circuit tests normal, replace the drive motor generator.

3. Inspect the transmission cooling system for restrictions or damage.

瀚慖f a concern is found, repair or replace the restricted or damaged components as necessary.

4. Perform the Transmission Fluid Cooler Flushing and Flow Test (J 45096) (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic

Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/Transmission

Fluid Cooler Flushing and Flow Test (J 45096)).

瀚慖f a concern is found, repair or replace the damaged components as necessary.

5. Perform the automatic transmission Line Pressure Check (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and

Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/Line Pressure Check).

瀚慖f a concern is found repair or replace the damaged components as necessary.

Component Testing

* Perform the Fluid Leak Diagnosis (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Component

Tests and General Diagnostics/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/Fluid Leak Diagnosis).

* Perform the Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing

and Inspection/Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check)

procedure.

* Perform the Line Pressure Check (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Component

Tests and General Diagnostics/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/Line Pressure Check) procedure.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* Drive Motor with Generator Assembly Removal - 1st Position (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic

Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Overhaul/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/8. Drive Motor with Generator Assembly Removal -

1st Position).

* Transmission Control Wiring Harness Extension Harness Removal (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic

Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Overhaul/2ML70 - Automatic Transmission/5. Transmission Control Wiring Harness Extension
