Triangle Rowing Club (TRC) has established itself as a top club competing in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on October 20, 2019! TRC’s Women’s Youth 4+ finished 14th out of 85 boats, navigating and rowing a phenomenal race in one of the most prestigious regattas in the world. Isabella Humbert of Apex Friendship High School, Jane Atkeson of Ravenscroft School, Katie Young of Cardinal Gibbons High School, Sophia Von Dauber of Apex Friendship High School and Ella Hill (Coxswain) of
Broughton High School returned with an automatic rebid from last year, increasing their standing by two places (from 16th to 14th) and shaving 30 seconds off of their time from last year. The Head of the Charles (HOCR) draws boat entries from some of the oldest and largest rowing clubs in the US, Canada and the UK. The HOCR welcomes 400,000 spectators from all over the world each year. Finishing well within the top twenty is an EPIC feat for TRC! This is a wonderful advancement for North Carolina Rowing. “I’m extremely proud of this crew. This was a big step forward for TRC and youth rowing in North Carolina,” said Head Coach Will White. “We were able to compete at the highest level, against the best programs in the country and beyond. Earning a rebid to this event in 2020 puts TRC into some very elite company.”
