The wait is nearly over for Bugatti’s latest bonkers hypercar, as the Divo will break cover at Pebble Beach next month. Before the covers come off, the teaser campaign is starting to gain traction, as Bugatti has released a new teaser video previewing the car's taillight design. Bugatti has said the Divo will adopt a “new, strong design language” and this teaser confirms that.
In contrast to the Chiron’s full-width light strip, the Divo will adopt separate clusters featuring dozens of LEDs. We also get to hear a sample the Divo’s earth-shattering exhaust note. What you’re hearing is likely a tuned version of the Chiron’s 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine.
In the Chiron, this unit produces 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, but it remains to be seen if the Divo will be more powerful. Thanks to enhanced aerodynamics, it should be quicker off the line, though – that’s no small feat considering the Chiron accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds. Another teaser image released by Bugatti previews the car’s extreme aero package showing an aero blade made from carbon fiber. This will make the Divo more agile for attacking corners and improve the handling “in a significantly more performance-oriented way.”
In other words, the Divo will be more track-focused than the Chiron, and even lighter than the Chiron Sport. Production will be limited to just 40 units, each costing $6 million. The Bugatti Divo will break cover on August 24, but expect more teasers to be released in the meantime.
