Life-Size Lego Bugatti Chiron Is The Best Toy Ever Built

Seeing it in the flesh lets you appreciate the insane attention to detail.

The Bugatti Divo made its European debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, but it wasn’t the only new Bugatti that was shown off at the event. Also on display was the life-size Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron replica unveiled back in August, which attracted a lot of attention. And rightly so because it’s a seriously impressive piece of engineering comprising of over one million Lego Technic pieces.

If that wasn’t already impressive, it can actually be driven. Power is sourced from the Lego Power Function platform that uses 2,304 motors and 4,032 Lego Technic gear wheels.

Seeing the car in the flesh lets you to appreciate the insane amount of work that went into this ambitious project. No detail has been overlooked. From every angle, the Lego replica looks strikingly similar to the real thing, capturing the Chiron’s curves and design details with astonishing accuracy.

But while it looks like a Chiron, its performance really can’t be compared. While the real Bugatti Chiron produces 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, the Lego’s 1.5-tonne car generates 5.3 horsepower and an estimated 67 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is also limited to just over 12 mph – a far cry from the Chiron’s limited top speed of 261 mph. But that’s missing the point. This is easily the best toy car ever built and is even more impressive than the 1:1 scale McLaren 720S shown at Goodwood last year.
