Buick Tries To Add Excitement To LaCrosse With New Sport Touring Trim

But will anyone actually take notice?

Did you forget that Buick still builds the LaCrosse? Don't worry, because we did as well. The LaCrosse is a very forgettable luxury sedan, and even the addition of a new Avenir luxury trim didn't help spark excitement for the Impala-based Buick. GM is having another go at trying to make the LaCrosse cool, by adding a new Sport Touring model for the 2019 model year. In GM's statement, the company referred to the car as the "ST," and it even includes "ST" badges. We are sure Ford's lawyers are going to love that.

So what has GM added on this supposedly "sporty" LaCrosse? The ST replaces the chrome found on other LaCrosse trim with a body-color grille surround and side vents. Buick has also added a rear spoiler, black mesh grille, 19-inch midnight silver wheels, and "ST" badging on the trunk. In terms of performance, the ST is powered by the same 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 sending power to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Pricing will start at $40,295, including a $925 destination fee, and Buick will offer five not-so-exciting color options including white, grey, silver, red, and black.

In addition to the new ST trim, 2019 LaCrosse models will now offer two new exterior colors called Carrageen Metallic and Pewter Metallic, and a new air ionizer designed to eliminate odors, which is now standard on the Avenir model. Sadly, these updates don't do much to help the LaCrosse stand out in a market that wants SUVs, not full-size sedans.
