67,050. Formerly known as the GL-Class, Mercedes has renamed this SUV because they say it鈥檚 now the 鈥淪-Class among the SUVs.鈥?Key competitors for the 2017 GLS include the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, and Range Rover. What鈥檚 New for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS? Besides coming with a name change, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS features a redesigned front fascia that鈥檚 highlighted by a wider grille and restyled headlights. In contrast, the back end of the vehicle gets new LED taillights and a fresh bumper design. As for the interior, Mercedes offers its new COMAND system with 8-inch touchscreen that can be used to access navigation and entertainment technology, among other functions. Consumers will have the choice between four distinct trim levels: GLS350d, GLS450, GLS550, and AMG GLS63. Other than minor changes made to the front and rear fascias, the exterior of the new GLS is very similar to its predecessor. If there are two things that Mercedes-Benz vehicles are famous for, then it would have to be extravagant interior cabins, as well as tremendous power underneath their hoods. The 2017 GLS certainly won鈥檛 disappoint Mercedes enthusiasts in the power department, as this new model is available with four powerful engine options.

Fuel economy data for GLS models equipped with the diesel or either V8 engine has yet to be released, but Mercedes says the 2017 GLS450 will yield 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Furthermore, this Mercedes SUV uses high-pressure direct injection technology, as well as an ECO Start/Stop system in order to cut emissions and save gasoline. The interior of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS provides seating for up to seven people and also comes standard with a rearview camera and remote start technology. Drivers will sit behind a new three-spoke steering wheel and the Dynamic Select system allows the driver to choose from three unique driving modes: Comfort, Sport, and Slippery. In addition, the GLS comes standard with a premium lighting system, Eucalyptus wood trim, and privacy glass. In terms of cargo space, the GLS boasts 49.8 cubic feet of storage space with the third row folded down. Standard safety features for the AWD Mercedes-Benz GLS includes LED daytime running lamps and tailamps, a rearview camera, and an 11-way airbag protection system. The new GLS also comes with new advanced safety features like Attention Assist, which can alert drivers if it senses they are exhibiting drowsy driving behaviors. Another advanced technology found on the new GLS is Active Brake Assist. This safety feature uses radar sensors to measure the speed at which the vehicle is closing on slower cars ahead. If the system determines a collision is likely, it can aid the driver in providing the correct level of braking in order to prevent or mitigate a collision.

Unchanged: The Dodge Journey survives to the 2017 model year with a new GT model replacing the top-end R/T. As with the R/T, the GT includes the available 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6, black leather seats with red accent stitching, a 368-watt six-speaker sound system, darkened 19-inch wheels, and a sportier suspension tuning. This year, the Crossroad model gets a new Satin Carbon wheel finish. Look For: A four-cylinder Journey with the third-row seating option if you want an inexpensive way to get seating for seven. Sum Up: Dodge鈥檚 value-oriented midsize crossover. Minor: Fiat has reduced the trim levels of the 500X down to three for 2017: Pop, Trekking, and Lounge. The options list is also now available to the entire range, so buyers can add features that were once limited to higher trim levels to lower 500X trims. A 160-hp, 1.4-liter, turbo I-4 is the base engine; the 180-horsepower, 2.4-liter I-4 is optional on the Pop and standard on the Trekking and Lounge grades. Best Buy The Trekking ensures that the 500X looks rugged without losing its quirky Italian charm.

Sum Up: The Fiat built for American tastes. Unchanged: The Edge gets a new cold-weather package with a windshield wiper deicer. The Titanium trim offers a new 20-inch wheel style, though you鈥檒l want the Sport trim if the available 21s are a must-have. Available Edge features include an expanded-view front camera, a park-assist system, and an adaptive variable-ratio steering system. Avoid: Assuming the 3.5-liter V-6 is the most powerful of the three-engine lineup; the smaller twin-turbo, 2.7-liter V-6 trumps it with 35 more hp and 100 lb-ft of extra torque. Sum Up: Midsize crossover offers more premium options than you鈥檇 think. Major: The updated Escape鈥檚 new volume engine is a 179-hp, 1.5-liter turbo-four. That engine includes engine stop-start as standard, as does the 245-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-four at the top of the lineup. Active safety tech is now available, and an electric parking brake is standard. An SE Sport Appearance package adds dark 19-inch wheels, black exterior accents, and partial leather seats. Avoid The 1.5-liter inline-four with all-wheel drive if you want a quicker 0-60 time than 9.6 seconds.

Sum Up: Still attractive but less satisfying overall than some competitors. Unchanged: The Expedition鈥檚 new Limited Appearance package adds 20-inch wheels, a black roof rack, dark gray exterior accents, and a few interior trim upgrades. A three-mode continuously controlled damping suspension is now standard on the Platinum model. The EL model extends the regular Expedition鈥檚 wheelbase by 12 inches. Driver鈥檚 Choice You won鈥檛 find one on this full-size SUV, but that twin-turbo V-6 propels the Expedition to 60 mph a bit quicker than the Tahoe and Suburban with the 5.3-liter V-8/6A combination. Sum Up: Feels old, though we like the turbocharged engine and third-row space. Cool Fact: LED headlights are standard on every Explorer. Sum Up: Awesome curb appeal, but the odd front-seat ergonomics remain. Major: The F-150 in EcoBoost form now out-torques the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel thanks to a revised 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V-6 that鈥檚 good for up to 450 lb-ft of torque. That updated powertrain is mated to a 10-speed automatic, even in the Raptor that returns for 2017 in SuperCab and SuperCrew bodystyles. The Raptor鈥檚 V-6 will make more power than the outgoing 411-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8.
