Rust Avengers, Assemble: Power Tour Through The Eyes Of Car-Guy YouTubers!

What a motley collection of cars this turned out to be. A rusty 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle, a Ford Mustang that pulled a Rip Van Winkle act, an Oldsmobile Cutlass that was a last-minute substitution, your everyday farm-boy Ford pickup, a Dodge Charger that had been brought back from being a shell of a car to something worth driving, a kit car that looked like a super-lux Mercedes and ran like a 1988 Mustang, and a knockout Pontiac GTO with a dead player for an engine. It sounds kind of rough from my description, but I mean that in a very respectful tone, because every one of those cars were out and about on Power Tour 2019…even the engineless Goat. Each car is special because of what it is, but none of the cars are so radical, so over-the-top, so built-to-kill that they are out of the normal guy’s ability to have, build, own, or operate. And that is probably the best representation of what Power Tour 2019 was all about in the short time I spent on the ground at Kentucky Speedway…unique and cool cars being driven, ranging from $5,000 Craigslist beaters to no-joke money builds.

What got me was how tight this group of vloggers actually were. It’s one thing to expect them to know each other…Thunderhead289, JunkyardDigs, Dylan McCool and ClassicMustangs429 actually have a kind of working alliance going with each other. But in person, these guys were their own unique family, and it was hard to not get sucked into their good-time vibe. From Kevin’s enthusiasm on everything to Luke’s mechanical prowess earning them prestige (and killer parking) within the traveling circus, the whole crew of camera operators, hosts, and assistants were having a ball wherever they were going.

While there’s a little bit of coverage from everyone, Deboss Garage captured everything and everyone in their “Rust Avengers” series. This is the first look at the final prep for the Deboss Garage guys and the first stops for the entire roadshow. Check it out!
