MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Teams Up With IWC Schaffhausen

The link between IWC Schaffhausen and AMG, the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz, dates back to 2004, when they reached a partnership agreement. The new relationship with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS continues this shared passion for pushing the boundaries of precision engineering. IWC Schaffhausen have been producing luxury watches since 1868, and are renowned for their pursuit of perfection and technical innovation in the design and engineering of their timepieces, a perfect match for the principles of the team. Ross Brawn, Team Principal of MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS said: “It is widely recognised that motorsport serves as a testing ground for technologies that ultimately benefit us all. As the pinnacle of global motorsport, Formula One is at the forefront of such development, and that leading role is set to continue in the years ahead. It is a privilege to find another company that espouses the same principles as our own, with the same insistence on absolute perfection.

Disliking these brands doesn't mean that I don't like every model they produce (i.e. Nissan GT-R, Nissan Z, Lincoln Continental except from 1980's & 1990's, Scion FR-S, Kia K900, Volkswagen CC). Q: If you could create your ultimate dream car, what features would it have? What materials would it include? A: First off, it would be a coupe or sedan that looks good and goes fast. It would have an aluminum chassis and bits of carbon fiber on the outside. Inside, it would have either leather or racing seats and alcantara would adorn the dashboard. My ultimate dream car would have either a naturally-aspirated or turbocharged V8, V10, or V12. It would produce at least 500 HP. 0-60 mph would be in the three-second range or better and top speed will be around 200 mph or greater. It would come with a manual or dual-clutch transmission and be rear-wheel drive or rear-biased all-wheel drive. Notable features it would also receive are a dual-exhaust setup, traction control, launch control, and carbon ceramic brakes. Finally, it would have an approximate ten-second quarter mile and a sub-7:30 Nurburgring lap time. I could go on all day about my ultimate dream car, but I'm just going to end the details right there. If you have any other questions that you need me to clarify, feel free to ask me in the comments section below. I will be more than happy to answer them once I get a chance to read them.

The new VW Tiguan is here. An SUV with design parallels to the larger Touareg. In Germany, the perfected Tiguan will arrive on the market in mid-June 2011; other European countries will follow at the beginning of August, and overseas markets at the end of August. The front end design was completely reinterpreted. The Volkswagen Tiguan is still the only SUV in its class that can be ordered in two different versions: one for on-road use and one specially tuned for off-road driving. Visually, the two models differ in their front ends ("On-road" has an 18 degree angle of approach, "Off-road" 28 degrees). Both models now show greater independence, better dynamic performance and more stylistic precision. In addition, like the on-road version, the off-road version is now also available with a top equipment line. In this case, the off-road specialist is known as the Track & Style (on-road: "Sport & Style"). Powertrain technologies have become even more fuel-efficient.

Three of the seven engines offered in Europe - all of them charged four-cylinder direct injection engines - are new to the Tiguan line-up. The four torque-strong petrol engines (TSI with 1.4 to 2.0 litres displacement) produce between 90 kW / 122 PS and 155 kW / 210 PS. The three powerful diesel engines (TDI) span a power range from 81 kW / 110 PS to 125 kW / 170 PS. Also available as an option on the new Volkswagen Tiguan is the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG) - one of the most efficient and sporty automatic transmissions. All BlueMotion Technology versions of the Tiguan have a Stop/Start system and battery regeneration. The results: even with all-wheel drive, the 103 kW / 140 PS Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI 4MOTION BlueMotion Technology, for example, consumes just 5.8 l/100 km! Clearly, this Volkswagen is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in the world.
