BMW Under Investigation For Collusion: An Unfor..

Today’s post reacts to the news that BMW, the famous German auto-manufacturer, has been raided by the European Commission’s (EC) antitrust division as part of an investigation into collusion between the largest German auto-manufacturers. In this post, the focus will be on the details of the investigation, as far as we can know at this very early stage, and then on contextualising that against the larger picture for auto-manufacturers. Ultimately, although operating in opposition to the supposed ideals of the marketplace i.e. private and independent business, the reality of the situation is that in this particular industry collusion is rife, and arguably necessary - depending upon one’s position. The EC raided BMW’s Munich offices last week in the latest development of an investigation into collusion between the largest German auto-manufacturers. The German magazine Spiegel suggested earlier this year that this current investigation will not stop at a cartel based on technological price-fixing and is inherently connected to the emissions scandal currently enveloping VW. In Germany, the issue of cartelisation has been a factor for generations, and only recently this issue was revealed within the Truck industry. The most important aspect in this regard is to acknowledge that not everything is black-and-white in this particular industry (like many others, admittedly). There have been a number of instances whereby groups of companies have teamed up to purchase technology, with a recent example being the leading German manufacturers working together with Nokia for use of its mapping services. Ultimately, it is important to view the cartelisation occurring within Germany in a certain context. Whilst it is illegal and will be punished, the rationale for doing so is arguably evident when we look at the broader picture.

Having been remodeled for 2016, Lincoln is not letting any grass grow together with its MKX luxury crossover. Additionally, it seems the manufacturer is about using a two-tier lighting setup front, perhaps not unlike that which we've observed about the Jeep Cherokee as well as the brand new Hyundai Kona. The remaining portion of the prototype indicates few other outside changes, save to get some thing in the works together with the tail lights. Interior upgrades are most likely to be equally subtle, with all Black Label editions nearly a certainty. Power wise, the newest MKX should continue using its EcoBoost V6 engine choices though a fresh four-cylinder option isn't from the question. Whatever lurks beneath the hood, it is going to turn either front wheels or all four, along with General Motors may even step in using a collectively developed nine-speed automated transmission replacement the present six-speed gearbox. Lincoln would really like to measure its presence in the luxury crossover section. As crossover earnings continue to enlarge, the section is fast turning into a vital battleground place for producers seeking to stake a claim and Lincoln badly wants a win whether it needs to stay competitive.

Lincoln will probably unveil the upgraded MKX after this calendar year, or maybe in 2018 in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. 2016 lexus rx . 2016 lexus rx . Stuttgart/Kleinostheim, Germany, Dec 02, 2010 - The success story of the MercedesServiceCard for commercially operated Mercedes-Benz trucks and vans continues. Since October, a full 30,000 customers have been able to use this Europe-wide cashless "on-the-road" service facility from Mercedes-Benz. A total of 160,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles now travel with the MercedesServiceCard on board. What is new is that the MercedesServiceCard is now also available for trailers and semitrailers - irrespective of the brand of tractor unit used. The only requirement is that the vehicle must be fitted with axles supplied by Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems. Nor does it matter whether the vehicle is new or used. Similarly, the customer benefits from being able to pay for repairs, order spare parts and access a range of services in the Mercedes-Benz service network - all without the need for cash. The network, with over 2000 locations, is the most extensive of any commercial vehicle manufacturer. Nor are the usual service surcharges applicable: a quick and secure check of the card will simply be made through the ServiceCardPortal. As another new feature the MercedesServiceCard also provides access to Continental's tyre service, for which customers are automatically registered. If so required, customers can also add the "Full Service package" option to the services outlined above.
