Daimler has announced today the 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG price for the version powered by the new 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine. The new engine of the 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG develops 544 hp at 5500 rpm and 800 Nm of torque between 2000 and 4500 rpm. However, Daimler is also selling the 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG Performance package which increases these figure to 571 hp at 5500 rpm and 900 Nm of torque between 2250 and 3750 rpm. The top speed of the 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG, as you already guessed, it's limited to 250 km/h or 300 km/h with the performance package. 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of the 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG is officially rated at 4.5 seconds and 4.4 seconds respectively. EUR for the short wheelbase version and at 127,200 EUR for the long wheelbase model. If you choose to get the performance package, the 2011 Mercedes S63 AMG price will be 7,900 EUR higher.
The flowing lines of the dashboard and lack of any unnecessary buttons have a visually soothing effect on both the driver and passengers. In terms of engine size, the 560SEL and S63 AMG are close - 5,547cc versus 5,461cc respectively. However, two and a half decades of research and development mean that from the moment the key is turned in the AMG, the similarities end. The S63’s V8 biturbo engages with a distinctive snort from the AMG exhaust system, yet despite this early drama, the soft throttle response in Comfort mode means moving away from rest is utterly smooth. With 577bhp/664lb ft torque, it isn’t long before things liven up, though. You cant help but smile at the dual personality of the S63AMG W222. Using only 2,000rpm, you will make surprisingly quick and effortless progress, but far greater potential lies higher up the rev range. Switch the transmission and suspension to Sport mode, and immediately the car firms up while the seven-speed automatic responds by dropping a gear or two, encouraging you to place your fingertips on the metal paddleshifters behind the steering wheel.
Bury the throttle pedal into the carpet at low speed and the ESP system kicks in as the tyres struggle to deploy all that torque to the road. Select the next gear and the onslaught simply continues. Tackle a few corners and the S63’s air suspension (tweaked by AMG and running with Mercedes’ road scanning Magic Body Control technology) keeps the body amazingly flat. It would be somewhat unfair to expect a car of this size to instil confidence in the driver on a mountain road, but the 222-series S63 AMG does so with aplomb. Rest your arm on the heated, Affalterbach badged armrest, adopt a more laid-back seating position and settle into a fast (ish) cruise and you can’t help but smile at the dual personality of the S63 AMG. Although it is light years ahead of the 450SEL 6.9 and 560SEL, it shares a common theme, and the owner of the latter two agrees. “They were simply the supercars of their time,” he said.
Mercedes-Benz will unveil the controversial, yet futuristic F 800 Style Research Vehicle at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show. The stylish concept is believed to be hinting at a new model in the Stuttgart-based carmaker's portfolio:a compact/mid-sized 4door coupe. Mercedes-AMG have appearently got their magic hands onto the new car and are secretly developing a super version of it. The future "doped" coupe will benefit from an exclusive technical platform, specially tweaked by AMG. We talk about a 4x4 architecture oriented towards achieving the highest-quality sporty behaviour. With the help of it, power will be transferred to the road from a brand new engine, featuring a maximum displacement of 2,000 cubic centimeters and showcasing several interesting technologies, such as direct injection, and more important, twin-turbocharging. This powerplant is expected to develop well over 300 HP in output;the maximum torque is still unknown, but we hope that it will sport a crazy number, too. By using new technical solutions for building this interesting powering unit, Mercedes-AMG have also focused on reducing fuel consumption and gas emission levels with the introduction of start/stop, brake energy recovery of gearshift indicator systems. The new compact/mid-sized 4door coupe, that could probably receive the BLC-Klasse name, will officially debut towards the end of 2012 or in 2013 and will be part of the future and very attractive A-/B-Klasse lineup.
Look beyond the gorgeous exterior of the Infiniti Q30 (with Android Car Gps) and you’ll find something even more intriguing: this is, almost, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback you can’t buy in America. Except you can buy it in America, starting next summer. It just won’t have a Mercedes-Benz badge. The Infiniti Q30 is the first whole-cloth vehicle to come to Infiniti from the Renault-Nissan alliance with Daimler, and it’s based on the A-Class architecture. Most notable, to those who’ve driven an example or two of the Mercedes interpretation of the architecture, is the suspension tune. Rather than using adjustable dampers—or even offering them—as in higher-trim models of the CLA and GLA, the Q30 uses a fixed damper and spring setup. When it comes to actually shifting the dual-clutch, however, we’re left wanting more. All of these performance-related concerns are somewhat beside the point for most Q30 buyers, however. Sure, the Q30S buyer might want to know that it’s no GLA45 AMG, but for everyone else, these are non-issues. And they should be non-issues for the Q30S buyer, too—provided Infiniti gets the price right. 35,000 base price) and the Q30 will likely come up short—it just doesn’t offer the high-tech goodies or the name-brand cachet of the establishment. But price it a significant portion of a year’s salary below those stalwarts, and these things may well fly off the shelves. If installing an Android Car Stereo in your car, that would be great!
