It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6 seconds while the non-hybrid accelerates in 5.8 seconds. S-Class offers a wide range of engines starting with the S350 BlueTec which features a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 and 240 horsepower. Next is the S400 hybrid with a powerful V6 and 295 horsepower. The S550's 5.5 L V8 was replaced in 2011 with a 4.6 L twin turbo V8 generating 429 horsepower. All models use a seven-speed automatic transmission. The larger-than-life S600 boasts of a 510 horsepower V12 although it is only available on rear-wheel drive. Power is sent through a five-speed automatic transmission. Both cars offer extreme luxury and performance. The Lexus LS is more comfortable while the S-Class has better safety features. Though the Lexus LS be short of an appealing exterior, it is a very quiet ride. Both sound systems are great though the controls on the S-Class are more baffling.
