2019 Mercedes S-Class Vs 2019 Lexus LS Comparison Tests

When it comes to premium luxury sedans, a car needs to excel in certain categories: refinement, performance, comfort and craftsmanship, and almost certainly no car leaves a stronger mark than the Mercedes Benz S-Class. For decades, the S-Class has been on the leading edge of automotive evolution, with the S350 BlueTec being one of the ultimate guilt-free indulgences. There is a reason you don't see an S-Class everyday - its expensive! 20000, the S-Class is certainly no child play. Like the S-Class, the Lexus' interior is spacious and luxurious, but the trade-off highly noticeable is the ride itself. The Lexus' suspension is clearly geared for comfort, while the S-Class straddles the middle ground between the Lexus posh ride and the more nimble super luxury cars. When it comes to the interior, the S-Class features top-notch materials and exacting construction, but the Lexus is even more comfort oriented. It is the ultimate place to spend a commute owing to its ultra-comfort features like for instance, the LS 460L offers more back-seat room than the S-Class, so much space even to make the Maybach 57 envious!

During my drive I found both to be impressively quiet. The Lexus LS cuddles one in a cocoon of luxurious serenity while I found it hard to step out of the S-Class. The Lexus however is less sporty and extremely tight turnings might just spoil the party. If you want to drift, get yourself a fast and furious custom made BMW. When it comes to parking, you just have to relax in the Lexus LS, and see what the Advanced Parking Guidance System (commonly referred to as Lexus' self-parking system) has to offer. The Lexus LS comes with anti-lock brakes, active front head restraints and SAFETY CONNECT, which is Lexus' emergency telematics system. This system automatically notifies emergency services if a severe rear end collision occurs or the airbags deploy. There are eight airbags located at the front, front side, side curtain and front knee positions. Side airbags for rear seat occupants are optional.

Additional features include adaptive cruise control with pre-collision warning, lane departure, blind spot monitoring and parking guidance systems. The Lexus LS is powered by a 4.6L V8 producing 380 horsepower in rear wheel drive models and 357 horsepower for the all-wheel drive models. The Lexus LS 600h L teams a gasoline V8 with duo electric motors to offer power commensurate to that of a V12. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6 seconds while the non-hybrid accelerates in 5.8 seconds. S-Class offers a wide range of engines starting with the S350 BlueTec which features a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 and 240 horsepower. Next is the S400 hybrid with a powerful V6 and 295 horsepower. The S550's 5.5 L V8 was replaced in 2011 with a 4.6 L twin turbo V8 generating 429 horsepower. All models use a seven-speed automatic transmission. The larger-than-life S600 boasts of a 510 horsepower V12 although it is only available on rear-wheel drive. Power is sent through a five-speed automatic transmission. Both cars offer extreme luxury and performance. The Lexus LS is more comfortable while the S-Class has better safety features. Though the Lexus LS be short of an appealing exterior, it is a very quiet ride. Both sound systems are great though the controls on the S-Class are more baffling. The S-Class is more costly and more fuel consuming, but every time you appear in an S-Class you will definitely command respect. Edmunds. The S-Class wins.

The displacement, output and torque of the CDI engine remain unchanged. The package of efficiency measures has enabled the NEDC fuel consumption of the BlueEFFICIENCY version of the C 200 CDI to be cut by 0.6 litres (10.5 per cent) to just 5.1 litres per 100 kilometres. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 135 grams per kilometre. As of late 2008, the BlueEFFICIENCY C-Class line-up will be rounded off by the world's first petrol engine with spray-guided direct injection. Cue the new C 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, which is being presented by Mercedes-Benz at the Geneva Motor Show. Despite generating a higher power output and even greater torque, the new model consumes around ten per cent less fuel than the C 350 saloon with the current V6 engine. The C 350 CGI is therefore set to offer a hitherto unrivalled combination of power delivery, agility, safety, economy and environmental compatibility in this vehicle class.
